Daily Counting to 100, counting in 2’s, 5’s and 10’s - Doubles and halves to 20 W/C 20.04.20 Length Begin to use the language of short, shorter, shortest, long, ,longest, longer and compare. Choose two objects around the house – Which is the longest which is the shortest ?– can you find arrange of objects and put them in order of length. Write some comparative sentences Can you collect items outside and compare the length of them eg twigs, leaves, petals stones etc Take a photograph and send it on seesaw – Record yourself describing the difference in length Can you measure items in your house using non standard measurements – draw round your hand and cut it out – How many handprints long are you when you lay down or how many handprints long is the table. Record your findings Cut squares of paper Write the letters of your name one on each – how many squares long is your name? Write other words – which is the longest word? What is the shortest word? You could measure your tricky words or the names of people in your house. Could you begin to look at tools we use to measure length? Can you use a ruler to measure objects. Record and write how many cm’s long an object is. Can you create an alien meal – what ingredients will you use – what will you call your dish – Share photos of you making it Can you make a list of alien words using your sound mats eg blark, blong etc Remember to: - Keep reading daily – Can your grownups ask you questions about the story. Can you retell the story in your own words? Can you describe the characters and setting? Keep working on the trigraphs and digraphs on your sound mat – Make lists of words and sentences using these.
