Looking back, I didn’t do much research into my preliminary task as much as I should of. I learnt that target audience plays a big part in making the magazine as it allows you to make it specifically for that group of people. I didn’t include this in my preliminary task therefore it made it harder to identify a specific target audience. I feel this is something I learnt across the process of making my magazine. Looking at my preliminary task I didn’t think of the layout very well, I also should have done much more research and what conventions I should feature within the magazine, I did do some research into what masthead I should use, however this I feel was not enough to justify what my magazine should feature.

Looking back at your preliminary task what do you feel you have learnt in the progression from it to the full product?

I created a range of masthead examples and sent them to some friends to find out which one they think worked best. I didn’t do much research into who should be featured as my main image, I feel this really helps to make the magazine and is also one if the main things you spot when choosing a magazine so I should have done more research in order to find the right image to put on my front cover.

Another thing I have learnt in the process of making my magazine is how important the images are and how there must be costume changes within the different photos, at the beginning of the project I underestimated the amount of work needed/ that had to be put in for it to be up to a good standard. For my preliminary task I just had the one outfit however for my final piece I had different outfits of my images that I took. With my preliminary task I noticed how I didn’t have a specific theme flowing through it. This is something that I had to include in my final piecein order to make the magazine flow.
