Goal 1

To provide a collection of resources in a variety of formats that reflects the

Common Core Frameworks and meets the needs of the Middle School

students and prepare them to meet or exceed state standards.

1A Objectives: By August 2014, resources aligned with Common Core standards will

be added to the collection to meet current media literacy standards.

Activity 1: Review the Common Core Frameworks for English/Language Arts

When: By end of September, 2013.

Who: Library Media Specialist and Middle Grades English/Language Arts teachers.

Resources: Frameworks documents from state

Evaluation: Report of findings

Activity 2: Review existing holdings against Frameworks topics and concepts related to

the Common Core Frameworks for English/Language Arts.

When: By end of October, 2013.

Who: Library Media Specialist.

Activity 4: Expand resources on topics and concepts identified on Common Core Frameworks for English Language Arts.

When: October, November, and December 2013.

Who: Library Media Specialist and Middle Grades English/Language Arts teachers.

Resources: Bibliographies of recommended titles

Evaluation: Develop and order list of recommended titles (stay within budget)

• Promote collaborations between teachers, instructional coach, and Media

Specialist to facilitate meaningful literacy and research experiences.

Goal 2

2A Objective: Media Specialist will promote collaborative planning and resource sharing between the instructional coach and teachers with the media specialist. Collaborative planning will encourage the inclusion of library resource use in lesson plans.

Activity 1: Grade level meetings to include media specialist and instructional coach. During weekly collaborative meetings media specialist will discuss resources available in media center that align with current unit standards. Instructional coach will guide implementation of media resources into lessons based on needs per data. Teachers are encouraged to introduce to students and use with students resources available in the media center.

Activity 2: Media Specialist will co-teach teachers with teachers to give students

knowledge of media center services and basic research procedures.

Evaluation1: Lesson plans to document inclusion of media center resources in

student activity and information literacy skills are embedded within the lessons.

Evaluation 2: Surveys using Google Docs to collect feedback about usefulness

of media services and research resources to complete assignments.

• Evaluation 3: Minutes of meetings to report agenda and outcomes of

collaborative planning meetings with teachers, instructional coach, and media

center.

Objective: Media Center program provides electronic resources and focuses on the use of these resources in the information literacy curriculum of various areas.

Activity 1: Survey teachers regarding their needs: class groups, small groups, individual

Activity 2: Develop a co-teaching and collaborative planning schedule using Google Docs to request student learning of media center resources

Evaluation: Report summary of results and schedule program times
