J.P. NEWTON SINGS & SWINGS THE GREAT AMERICAN SONGBOOKOn a wonderfully evocative musical journey that goes from smoky jazz through to bar-room confessionals, J.P. Newton swings his way through the Great American Songbook, singing timeless songs by Cole Porter, George and Ira Gershwin, Duke Ellington and Fats Waller in his effortlessly cool style.

ORLI NYLES TRIOOrli Nyles’s sultry voice sends shivers up your spine. Singing timeless standards and classic jazz with a delicious twist that is, at times, uncannily reminiscent of Joni Mitchell or Rickie Lee Jones, it’s easy to hear why she’s been causing such a stir since she first burst into the spotlight.

HOT JAZZ JAMEvery Wednesday, Boisdale brings together some of the finest musicians in London to pay homage to the true legends of jazz. Ease yourself into the middle of the week with a cool cocktail of timeless music that goes from Louis Armstrong right through to Miles Davis.

BEN SMITH TRIOThe Ben Smith Trio’s laid-back blend of blues and acoustic rock blurs the boundaries between John Martyn and The Band, which we thought sounded far too good to be true until we actually saw them play. Fresh from prestigious support slots with Robert Cray and Joan Armatrading, Ben and the band are firing on all cylinders right now.

SOUL FRIDAY: REUBEN RICHARDS & SOUL TRAINHaving cut his teeth working alongside the likes of Ike Turner, Steve Cropper and Dr John, and with a sublime voice that immediately brings Sam Cooke and Otis Redding to mind, Reuben Richards’ musical credentials are second to none. With a band that’s as tight as a drum, Richards delivers a mix of Motown, Atlantic and Stax classics that’s got so much foot-stomping soul power that you could quite easily convince yourself that you’ve been beamed back to the Apollo in Harlem in its 60s heyday. One of the best soul outfits in the country.

A TRIBUTE TO BARRY WHITE & STEVIE WONDER: FEATURING SHENTON DIXON & HIS BANDShenton Dixon recently burst into the spotlight after a show-stopping appearance on BBC1’s The Voice, and we are delighted to welcome him back to Boisdale with his astonishingly authentic homage to two of the undisputed kings of soul music, Barry White and Stevie Wonder. The perfect Saturday night soundtrack.

THE SUNDAY JAZZ LUNCH WITH THE HOT CLUB OF BOISDALEA delicious 18-hour slow roast rib of aged Aberdeenshire beef is the centrepiece for Boisdale’s famous Sunday Jazz Lunch. STORMY MONDAY BLUES WITH ERIC RANZONIEric Ranzoni mixes up a potent blend of blues, boogie-woogie and rock ‘n’ roll as he swings his way through a rolling jukebox of classics by legends like Chuck Berry, Jerry Lee Lewis and Fats Domino.

ORLI NYLESOrli Nyles’s sultry voice sends shivers up your spine.

THE TJ JOHNSON BAND: FROM NEW ORLEANS TO NEW YORKTJ Johnson and his band play an electrifying cocktail of cool jazz and rolling blues that blends the R&B of Ray Charles with the swagger of Dr John. Expect to hear a delicious swinging Gumbo stew of timeless classics that jumps all over the musical map.‘Spicy modern-day jazz.’ The Independent

YOLANDA BROWNWith a rich tenor sax sound that sits somewhere between Stan Getz and David Sanborn, YolanDa Brown’s distinctive mix of smooth jazz, soul and funk has marked her out as one of the brightest stars to emerge from these shores in many years.

THE CONGO FAITH HEALERSThe Congo Faith Healers call their music “down and dirty savage swamp infested gypsy blues,” which sounds a bit complicated to us. If you can imagine a jam session between Madness and Los Lobos, you may get a better idea of what this brilliant band sound like.

“The best band I have ever seen.” KT Tunstall

THE SUNDAY JAZZ LUNCH WITH MUSIC FROM THE RIO TRIOA mouthwatering 18-hour slow roast rib of aged Aberdeenshire beef takes centre stage for the Sunday Jazz Lunch. Complementing the magnificent menu is the equally magnificent music of The Rio Trio, who play the sort of good-time jazz which you can imagine filling the Great Gatsby ballrooms of F. Scott Fitzgerald.

BEN SMITH QUARTETThe Ben Smith Quartet’s laid-back blend of blues and acoustic rock blurs the boundaries between John Martyn and The Band, which we thought sounded far too good to be true until we actually heard them. Fresh from prestigious support slots with Robert Cray and Joan Armatrading, Ben and the band are firing on all cylinders right now.
