London Contemporary Dance School has been educatingdance artists of the highest artistic quality and technicalstandard for over 40 years. Our training is designedto respond to the needs of contemporary dancers anddancemakers working across the world today. Balancingconsistency and diversity, these graduating students areequipped with the artistic and intellectual skills, as wellas the technical ability to explore, engage and contributeto dance, whilst pushing the boundaries of what itmeans to be a contemporary dance artist.

Tony Adigun is a man of many hats: creative director, curator, choreographer, dancer, educator and mentor all worn with the same signature passion and style. He is the founder and artistic director of the cutting edge hip-hop company Avant Garde Dance. Tony has a razor sharp eye for composition, musicality and form, which has allowed him to develop a unique dance vocabulary that has gained respect and admiration from the highest echelons of the dance industry. Music is Adigun’s first passion and major influence, and dance is the way he show’s his appreciation. Tony is currently a Work Place Artist at The Place and is being mentored by Akram Khan and he is Creative Director for Sky One’s Got To Dance. He was the recipient of the BEFFTA Award for Best Choreographer in 2011 and 2012.

Richard Alston choreographed his first work in 1968 as one of the originalstudents at London ContemporaryDance School. In 1972, he formed thiscountry’s first independent dancecompany, Strider. In 1975, he leftfor New York to study at the MerceCunningham Dance Studio, returningto Britain two years later to work asan independent choreographer andteacher. In 1980, he was appointedResident Choreographer with BalletRambert, and was the company’sArtistic Director 1986-92. He became Artistic Director of The Place in1994, where upon he formed Richard Alston Dance Companyfor which he has made almost 40 pieces. Commissions includeSheer Bravado for Ballet TheatreMunich, Walk Through A Storm forBallet Black, Carmen for ScottishBallet, and A Rugged Flourish forNew York Theatre Ballet.

The music comes from a CD issued by the World Music magazine Songlines. I was asked to submit a playlist of music to the magazine, and the pieces accompanying this dance are a selection of the tracks I chose and recent releases chosen by Songlines. Wayne Parsons has danced for some of the world’s leading contemporary dance companies including Sydney Dance Company, Richard Alston Dance Company and National Dance Company of Wales (NDCWales). As a freelancer he has worked for Oguike Dance, Mark Bruce Company, Motionhouse Dance, Joe Moran Dance, Yorke Dance Project, The Van-L Dance Company, SmallPetitKlein and Kim Brandstrup, amongst others.

Wayne choreographed three works during his time at NDCWales: Chrysalis (2006), Publicly Private Me (2007) and Visiting Then (2008). His work Meeting premiered in 2013, and was a finalist in the Copenhagen International Choreography Competition. Wayne also created States of Separation for London Studio Centre in 2013, and Habitus for Intoto Dance Company in 2014.

Wayne was one of four choreographers selected by the National Centre for Choreography to attend a residency focused on narrative in dance headed by Jonathon Lunn. A Lisa Ulmann Scholarship recipient, Wayne has also been supported by The Place through its Choreodrome platform.

FarewellEva Recacha

Eva Recacha is a London based choreographer. Her choreographic practice is focused on exploring ways of relating movement and text, creating a blend of poetic, humorous, and nonsensical juxtapositions through the interplay of both mediums. Eva has been a Place Prize Finalist twice with works The Wishing Well (2013) and Begin to Begin (2011). Her latest piece, Easy Rider (2014) was presented as part of Spring Loaded 2014 at The Place. She is a recipient of the Marion North Mentoring Award 2011-12, was shortlisted for the 2012 Arts Foundation Fellowship, and was named as one of Time Out’s Best Of 2011. Eva has also received mentoring from internationally renowned choreographer, Rui Horta and is a Work Place Artist. Eva trained at London Contemporary Dance School, where she now teaches composition and choreology. She has performed in the UK with Frauke Requardt and Lost Dog, with Proyecto Babel in Spain and with inFlux in Switzerland.

Darren trained at Rambert Dance School and Laban. He has danced for over 20 years with companies including David Massingham Dance, Janet Smith, Jeremy James Co, Matthew Bourne’s Swan Lake (original cast), Cinderella, Nutcracker and Play Without Words, Random Dance Co., Mark Bruce Dance Co. and most recently Richard Alston Dance Co. where he became rehearsal director, and for which he has created two works. Darren is a two-time semi-finalist of The Place Prize for Dance sponsored by Bloomberg. His own company, Darren Ellis Dance toured nationally and internationally. He was also an Associate Artist at DanceEast Ipswich. Darren has collaborated with film maker Filipe Alcada and visual artist Barbara Dougan to make new work for film and gallery installations and has just created a new show for young children Meeting Mr Boom! touring nationally in 2014. His theatre credits include Unbroken at the Gate with director Natalie Abrahami and Hamlyn at the Young Vic and the Space. Darren choreographs work for various student companies and educational and community projects. He regularly teaches at Rambert Dance school and London Contemporary Dance School as well as professional companies including Matthew Bourne's New Adventures, Rambert Dance Company and DV8.

Shakeera is a diligent and interesting performer who has a passion for music that she uses within

her movement vocabulary. As part of the School’s exchange programme Shakeera studied at the

California Institute of Arts (CalArts) where she fully immersed herself as an artist. Shakeera studied

Latin and Middle Eastern percussion and Balinese dance as well as collaborating with many musicians as part of the music and dance seminar at CalArts.

Katie is a strong, detailed dancer with a fluid yet dynamic movement quality. She has been involved in several works while training including site specific work by Helen Parlor, nationally

toured work by Errol White and a piece by Kerry Nicholls as part of the LC3 tour alongside numerous studio performances. Katie

is going to continue to be based in London upon graduating, but hopes to begin a performance career as part of a touring

company in the near future.

Antonio adapts well between dance theatre, contemporary, and performance art work, he has a strong interest in choreography that engages in audience participation and combining dance with

other art forms. In 2011 he co-founded 37.25 - NAP, a performance art platform in Portugal. He has worked internationally with various contemporary dance and

theatre choreographers. As a choreographer, Antonio has collaborated with several other artists. He is a co-founder

of .2Dot, a London based performance artist duo with Riccardo T. They will perform at Walk & Talk 2015 in

Portugal and intend to continue developing work and carry out research into audience participation.

Before London Contemporary Dance School: BTEC National Diploma and GCE Advanced Level in Contemporary Dance,

Salford City College, Pendleton Centre

Jordan is a highly technical facilitator, knowledgeable of his own body. He is a versatile performance artist in many genres

and has performed nationally and internationally. Jordan performed in the Shanghai World Expo aged 17 where he danced

alongside English National Ballet. Recently he was scouted by choreographer Tony Adigun at Variation 2013. In July, Jordan

will be flying to Zimbabwe for a project with Avant Garde Dance. After graduating, Jordan plans to join a touring company to

continue his development as a performer.

Jenna is an intelligent and versatile dancer with strong technique and interest in generating her own choreography. While living in London she has taken part in several projects

and worked with choreographers such as Joe Moran, Georges Hann, Matthew Bourne’s New Adventures and Nathan Goodman

in Resolution! 2013. After graduation she plans to continue developing as a performer and evolving her own artistic vision. She is interested in bringing together her two passions: science

and contemporary dance.

Conservatoire of Music and Dance.

Honest and fervent, Olivia is an intelligent dancer who displays both an efficient and curiously open mind towards any creative

process. She is experienced in ballet and a diverse range of contemporary techniques as well as singing. She counts

amongst her achievements working with Trisha Brown Dance Company, Opera North, Jose Agudo (in the world premiere

of Arctic), performing at the Roundhouse with B.Y.O.U/Tony’s Pony Show and gaining her yoga teacher training certificate in 2012. After London Contemporary Dance School Olivia hopes

to incorporate her yoga practice into a professional dance career. Olivia is seeking work with artists creating physical and

collaborative pieces she will spend her time between Berlin and London.

Switzerland

Simea is an expressive, intuitive and resourceful performer who is keen to explore her abilities in theatrical

as well as physical work. Offering a mental and physical commitment to the range of processes and performances

she undertakes, Simea is a creative and empathetic collaborator. Simea was part of two different dance and design collaborations, performed at The Roundhouse

and The Place. Working with Jose Agudo gave her the chance to articulate a specific movement quality, which thoughtfully responded to the choreographer’s vision. Simea follows her particular interest through

the media of film in her latest The Hijab: Embodying the Unrepresentable. Simea aims to work internationally in a variety of fields. More immediately, she plans to join Maqmat Dance Theatre in Beirut prior to completing a

project with Joshua Monten in Bern.

Beth has always been a mover and has always loved to entertain. She initially attended dance classes in the north of England and decided to pursue a career in dance, completing the foundation course at Northern School of Contemporary

Dance in 2011. Beth is a skilled performer, particularly in improvisation, physical theatre and voice work. She hopes to

take her dancing feet around the world.

Emmie is a performer and dance artist who enjoys the interplay between audiences and performers. She is interested in physical theatre work, improvisation,

collaboration and clowning. Emmie is also interested in creating and editing dance film, and produced Je ne sais quoi as part of her final project at London Contemporary

Dance School. Throughout her studies, Emmie has performed in a variety of internal and external student pieces. Emmie will be joining Verve, the Postgraduate Company of Northern School of Contemporary Dance.

Emmie Coxey

Newmar is a strong spoken word artist with ability in acting, physical theatre, as a film maker and workshop facilitator in hip hop, house dance, choreography and Capoeira. Among his achievements Newmar has taken part in a number of

choreographic platforms including Live Vibe: Making it Happen, Street Stories at the Royal Opera House and has performed in

Wayne McGregor’s Lightroom’s and Alesha Dixon’s Street Dance Stars. He has also been involved in dance and mentoring at

Lister Community School, London. Newmar is a co-founder of Just Us Dance Theatre and aims to move people with spoken word. He plans to continue mentoring, acting,

Anders is a creative, charismatic and playful dancer with a strong physicality and fluidity. He is skilled at contact

improvisation and floorwork and has a particular interest in the interplay between visual arts and choreography.

He pursues an active interest in costume design and has collaborated with students from Central St Martins and

Wimbledon College of Arts as well as working closely with a student from Northern Film School choreographing the

award-winning short film, Polystyrene Dreams. Anders will be working on a dance and theatre project with The House of Strays before joining Tilted Productions as an apprentice

on the Postgraduate Diploma in Performance at London Contemporary Dance School, he will also continue to

investigate his own visual and choreographic practice.

Fanni is a powerful and versatile performer with fluidity and a strong stage presence. She has a particular interest in Gaga,

floorwork and creativity; she also has experience in gymnastics and acrobatics. During her studies she has been involved with

outside projects, such as Street Stories in the Royal Opera House, a short dance film by Jack Exton, Polystyrene Dreams

and a collaboration project at Dance Umbrella. After graduating she hopes work in Europe and develop as a dance artist.

Emilia is an intelligent and curious performer, improviser and creator. She is interested in exploring and notions of research, improvisation and writing as practices of

Emilia is the winner of 2014 Deutsche Bank Award for contemporary dance. As part of London Contemporary

Dance School’s exchange programme Emilia spent a term at The Danish National School of Performing Arts, where

she became incredibly excited by the European dance scene. Emilia intends to build on this excitement pursuing a career in continental Europe, starting in Brussels. She

will continue to pursue notions of documentation, writing and reading as performance.

A highlight for Iris was taking part in the London 2012 Olympic opening ceremonies as well as being part of the Bloomsbury Festival opening and closing dance ceremonies. Iris hopes to

Celina has been a member of both Shift Youth Dance Company and Kinetic Dance Company. As part of the School’s exchange programme Celina studied at the California Institute of Arts (CalArts) where she expanded her interest in film, video and music as well as choreographing work for Student Choice

and performing Memory Mash at REDCAT (Los Angeles) by Julia Rhoads (Lucky Plush Productions). Celina intends to

pursue a performance career in physical theatre and contact improvisation in the UK and Internationally. She will be in

and experience, but conveying a passion for dance and having it reciprocated from the students. At London Contemporary

Dance School she has gained confidence as a dancer and individual. She has also expanded her teaching experience

by worked as a Teaching Assistant for the Children and Youth Dance department at The Place. Next year she studies for

a Diploma in Dance Teaching and Learning at Trinity Laban Conservatoire of Music and Dance. After this she hopes to begin

internationally and has been performed alongside Goddard/Nixon and Richard Alston Dance Company at

in the opening ceremony at the Olympic Games in London 2012 and working with Luca Silvestrini on his latest production,

in teaching and strives to facilitate young dancers. Hannah gained the Charlotte Kirkpatrick award last year for showing

exceptional potential as a dance artist. Hannah has been involved in projects that have allowed her to perform in venues

across the UK, including platforms such as Dance Umbrella 2013 and Resolution! 2014. After graduating Hannah will be

joining the Jasmin Vardimon youth company, JV2. She is hugely excited to pursue a career as a dance artist within

for The Print Room, Royal Ballet Education and Images of Dance. Morgann regularly creates work specifically

Lucy is a compelling and expressive performer who has had the opportunity to work with various acclaimed

choreographers, both in the United States and abroad. She spent a term studying at the Accademia dell’Arte where she studied contemporary and cultural dance.

She attributes this experience to the birth of her international curiosities of the dance world. Lucy plans

to continue her exploration of dance through performing professionally and presenting of her own choreographic work. It is her hope that she will continue to work abroad;

as she has a particular interest in experiencing how dance communicates with society in cultures she was not

born in to.

Alistair is a creative and versatile performer with a wealth of stamina and an expansive performance

experience. After graduating from London Contemporary Dance School, he joined the National

Dance Company of Wales as an apprentice dancer, and then went on to join Punchdrunk in their acclaimed production of The Drowned Man: A Hollywood Fable performing a multitude of parts that showed off his

many skills. After working with Punchdrunk he would like to continue working in a theatrical way, exploring different challenges through the choreography and

developing performer audience relations.

Jennifer is an enthusiastic dancer and has built significant

skills and knowledge during her apprenticeship with Richard Alston Dance Company. As well as performing

internationally with the company Jennifer has also taught and assisted in Alston dance workshops at London Contemporary Dance School as well as at dance schools on location on tour. Jennifer is gratified to join Richard Alston Dance company as a full time company member.

Amy is a versatile, accomplished performer. She took up an apprenticeship position through

London Contemporary Dance School with Scottish Dance Theatre in September. During the year she has performed in works by Fleur Darkin, Victor Quijada, Jorge Crecis and Jo Stromgren.

Amy was offered a full contract with the company and will continue to work with Scottish Dance

Theatre for the coming year.

Hanna is a versatile and musical dancer who enjoys pushing herself beyond her boundaries and trying new things. She has

a strong passion for teaching having taught workshops and classes with Danish Dance Theatre. Hanna had the opportunity

to work with Rambert Dance Company, doing Itzik Galili’s A Linha Curva, and Mark Baldwin’s The Rite of Spring, most

recently she worked with Orjan Andersson and Tim Rushton. In January 2015, she will be joining Norrdans Contemporary Dance Company in Sweden as a full time company member.

Before which Hanna is hoping to be involved in smaller projects, workshops and to teach.

Emily is a versatile expressive dancer, with a strong, unique stage presence. She has just finished a year

as an apprentice dancer at National Dance Company Wales, performing works by Christopher Bruce, Stephen

Shropshire, Eleesha Drennan, Stephen Petronio, and Angelin Preljocaj. Emily will be working as a freelance

dancer with National Dance Company Wales and Phoenix Dance Theatre, whilst working towards her MA, and plans to gain more experience in teaching ballet and

contemporary technique.
