London is the biggest city in Europe. Over 8 million people live there.
It’s the center of media, art, fashion, technology, education and entertainment.
London is a very old city, foundedabout 2000 years ago by Romans.
There are many famous places: Buckingham Palace, the London Eye, Piccadilly Circus, Big Ben, Tower Bridgeand Trafalgar Square.

London Eye is calledthe Millennium Wheel – anobservation wheel located onthe south bank of the Thames.The circle is 135 meters tall, andits full rotation takes about 40minutes. At the wheel there are32 passenger capsules.

Big Ben
Big Ben was built betwen 1834 and1859. Bell’s weight is 13 tonnes. Its clock isthe biggest clock in the Great Britain. Itsdisc diameter is 7,5 m and its tips are 4,25 mlong. Behind the Big Ben there is theParliament. It is named after Sir BenjaminHall, an architect, or a boxer BenjaminCaunt.

St Paul’s Cathedral
St Paul’s Cathedral islocated in the centre of Londoncalled The City. Its constructionlasted between 1675 – 1710. It’sfamous for a monumental domewith a diameter of 50 meters andweight of 700 tons. It’s 108m heightand 158m long.

Tower Bridge
Tower Bridge is a symbol of London. It has got two towers thatweight 1,100 tons. In the towers there is a museum of its history, and onthe upper bridge, now open to tourists, there is a beautiful view of theRiver Thames. The bridge was constructed in 1894.

Natural History Museum is the largest natural history museumin Britain. The museum is famous for its exhibition of dinosaur skeletons.It was build in 1881.

On the square in front of thePalace stands a statue of Queen Victoria.

Hyde Park is one of many parks inLondon. It was founded in 1536 by the kingHenry VIII. Most of the monuments in thepark were designed in the 19th. In HydePark is a place where everyone can relax andspend some time outdoors. You can playmany sports there.

Trafalgar Square
Trafalgar Square is a famous place in the city of London, England.It is a large square visited by many tourists. Trafalgar Square is the heart ofLondon.
The square celebrates the Battle of Trafalgar, fought in 1805. There isa statue of Lord Horatio Nelson (5 meters tall) mounted on a tall column (56meters tall). The National Art Gallery is there.
