Te Deltapoort is the region between the center of

Dordrecht and Rotterdam, that has grown thanksto its position next to Rotterdam, the harbor andthe highway. Politicians and regional planners have

neglected this area for decades, and the result is agrey mix of suburbs, business parks cut through by

several large infrastructural bundles. Now most harboractivities are moving westwards out of the area, all that

remains in the Deltapoort is a sea of ultra cheap m2s,occupied by low educated people. Is there any hope for

    the future?

In the strategic plan or the year 2040, the network o

dikes and harbors is transormed into the backboneo everything o the area. Along this network, a fne

mix or living, working and recreating is developed.Employment in the make-economy is stimulated on

new twining dikes that orm compartments or waterstorage. Local products are packed, shipped and tr ucked

in a new hub that connects the local landscape with

the international trac. Altogether this orms a livinglandscape that can be seen as the new metropolitan park

    o the 21st century.
