"Our goal is to design and implement state-of-the-art and reliable

logistics information systems that, combined with high caliber

consulting services, will allow enterprises to reduce costs and increase

customer service levels while at the same time improve the efficiency,

productivity and work-satisfaction of their employees."

Mantis Informatics S.A., established in early 1996 in Athens, Greece, is a leading supplier of extended Supply Chain Execution software and solutions in Central Eastern Europe.

Logistics VisionTM, Mantis’ flagship software product suite (LV Suite - LVS), runs today at more than 500 sites of 250 customers in many countries.

Profile

. . .wi th the Experience of a Leader

LVS is an integrated family of software products for the management, automation and optimization of the supply chain of medium and large enterprises incorporating business practices of many multi-nationals.

It’s open architecture allows easy integration with complementary information systems (like ERP, MRP, etc.).

LVS includes the following systems, structured in an integrated family of solutions (Solution Map):

Despite the availability of specialized logistics systems today, most of them are:

Based on out-dated technology, jeopardizing the investment of the company that will implement them.

Covering only parts of the supply chain (typically warehousing only - WMS) forcing the company to bear responsibility and extra cost for the integration with other systems (like distribution, inventory management, etc.).

Are minimally adjustable, increasing significantly the Total Cost of Ownership (TCO).

The main reason for this is the recent economic situation that deterred most logistics software vendors to finance new releases according to new technologies / architectures and market demands.

Mantis, realizing this market need and establishing the lack of such logistics solutions, has invested significantly, over 6 million Euro, to renew the software that it offers.

This investment, that started in 2001 and is still going on today has resulted in a new generation of logistics information systems (3rd generation) that was made available in 2004.

Mantis’ flagship product, Logistics VisionTM (LV-III) is the successor of the previous two generations (LV-I & LV-II) and encompasses all the business know-how and technology accumulated by Mantis over the last 13 years.

This effort was made possible by joining forces with a well known venture capital that invested in Mantis.

Especially in the light of the recent financial crisis, it is more important for businesses than ever to reduce supply chain costs while at the same time increasing the customer service level as well as reduce / optimize inventory and increase its availability. State-of-the-art Supply Chain Management software like Mantis’ LVS is tailored for these needs.

It is also clear that in general ERP systems:

Focus on accounting, financial and commercial needs of the enterprise and can not provide an acceptable solution for the optimization of the supply chain.

Implementation of such systems requires a long time and very significant resources resulting to a high cost and a low return on investment (ROI).

The suppliers of such systems do not employ the specialized and experienced consultants required for a successful implementation of a logistics solution.

The current market trend is towards specialized logistics systems that address the entire supply chain (warehousing, distribution, inventory management, manufacturing execution, quality control, etc.), that are developed according to the latest technology, and are of proven quality and adaptability in many various installations.

The availability of such a solution enables enterprises of any given size to materialize their investments gradually according to their needs.

Furthermore, the fast implementation allows rapid deployment and immediate results for the enterprise with tangible impact in the competitiveness of the company.

Manufacturing

Manufacturing industries demand sophisticated logistics solutions, that on top of the finished goods should manage and trace raw, packaging materials and semi-finished, optimize the flow of materials through the production floor, automate and monitor quality control processes and finally trace lots, consumption and production yield.

Plant VisionTM and Warehouse VisionTM provide an integrated, modern, proven solution for medium to large manufacturing enterprises.

Especially for food & beverage producers with very high quality (ISO & HACCP) and internal traceability standards, Quality VisionTM is a “must” and along with Plant VisionTM and Warehouse VisionTM establishes LVS as one of the most functional and truly integrated supply chain management solutions for the food & beverage industry.

Logistics Service Providers

The market sector of Logistics Service Providers - LSP (warehousing, distribution, transportation, etc.) is a very competitive one. The customers of LSP are not anymore loyal as in the past, they often have complex requirements and raise new demands almost daily, while at the same time request from the LSP to satisfy these demands “yesterday” and at no additional cost. The situation becomes even worse due to the fact that LSP usually have many sites, many customers of different product types, different billing specs and logistics processes (receiving, order execution, counting, etc.), each customer might have a different IT system that is needed to exchange data with LSP’s WMS, etc. LSP should therefore be able to adapt quickly and with minimum cost to the demands of their customers. An LSP without a highly adaptable logistics system will not survive in the long term future in such a competitive market.

LVS has been born in the LSP market in 1996. All generations of LV were offering adaptability features for LSP. Especially the new generation (III) is the most highly adaptable logistics system in the worldwide market today. LVS’ adaptability allows companies to gradually build their own logistics information system (powered by Logistics Vision).

Distribution

The distribution market is also competitive and the logistics and excess inventory costs are playing a crucial role in the net profitability. The complex logistics environment is defined by a variety of SKUs and suppliers, a large number of delivery points, the need for complete downstream traceability, the need for advanced stock allocation scenarios required to support the various requirements of the retailers (product self-life, packaging restrictions, etc.) as well as the promotions of various variants of the goods, etc. Finally distributors have now more than ever the need to achieve and maintain the desired customer service level at the lowest possible inventory cost.

LVS encompasses best practices from 100’s of major distributors that have selected and run it in many countries. Along with the automation and optimization of warehousing and distribution activities (Warehouse VisionTM and Transportation VisionTM), Mantis’s solution for distributors encompasses inventory planning and optimization through advanced demand forecasting and replenishment planning (Inventory VisionTM).

Furthermore, with these solutions, Mantis allows the suppliers (principals) to improve the control of their channel network as well as to improve the efficiency and the quality of the services of their channel partners.

Retail

The retail market is extremely competitive. Because of the low profit margins, the logistics costs are playing a key role in the net profitability.

The complex logistics environment is defined by a large number and variety of SKUs and suppliers, by a plethora of SKU groups and categories, by products of variable weight, by demanding cross docking operations of “difficult” products such as fresh vegetables and fruits, fresh and frozen meat and fish, by the combination of direct (from the supplier to the shop) and indirect (through the retailer’s DC) modes of delivery, by the advanced stock allocation scenarios required to support the continuous promotions of various variants of the goods, etc.

The know-how accumulated by many successful implementations in very demanding local and international retail companies has allowed Mantis to gradually build its advanced vertical specialized solution for retail.

In addition to the retail-oriented WMS built-in the Warehouse VisionTM functionality, Mantis’ retail solution includes Inventory VisionTM (demand forecasting and optimized replenishment planning) to plan the inventory at main and regional distribution centres as well as at the retail outlets.

The objective is to minimize the stock while at the same time to increase the sales by improving the availability of the right product at the right point (DC or retail outlet) on the right time.
