    INTERNATIONAL GRADUATE CONFERENCE ONCLIMATE CHANGE AND PEOPLE

    15 19 November 2010

    LOGISTICS INFORMATION TO THE PARTICIPANTS

    1) Venue of the conferenceInternational Graduate Conference on Climate Change will be held in the conference hall of theNational Trust for Nature Conservation (NTNC), Khumaltar, Lalitpur, Nepal (Website:www.ntnc.org.np)

    Transfer from Hotels to NTNCShuttle buses will be arranged to transfer conference participants from the hotels booked by theorganizers to the conference venue and vice versa.

    2) Visa Information

    All participants out of the host country are required to be in possession of valid national passport.

    Participants must obtain visa which can be received upon arrival at the immigration entry points of

    Nepal, Tribhuvan International Airport (TIA) or at the border immigration offices if you are entering

    by surface travel.

    Participants from India will not require visa. Participants from SAARC countries will get VISA (15 days) upon arrival at TIA after filling

    VISA form with passport size photograph.

    SAARC countries participants will get gratis visa if they are visiting first time this year,otherwise they have to pay for the entry visa.

    Non SAARC countries participants will be charged USD 25 for the entry VISA. People of these countries do not get visa on arrival at the immigration entry points of Nepal:

    Nigeria, Ghana, Zimbabwe, Swaziland, Cameroon, Somalia, Liberia, Ethiopia, Iraq, Palestine

    and Afghanistan.

    You are responsible for your visa arrangement, and you can find further information about the visa

    requirements for your country, make sure you visit on the following link:www.immi.gov.np

    3) AccommodationWe have booked few rooms in three hotels for the conference (the maps to locate hotels andconference venue in reference to the Kathmandu International Airport is provided in our conferenceblog (www.gradconference.wordpress.com)

    1. Hotel Goodwill, about 10-15 minutes walking distance from the conference venue, we have about10 rooms here. (Website:www.hotelgoodwillpatan.com)

    2. Hotel Clarion, about 10 minutes drive from the venue, but near to the Patan city and shoppingcomplexes, and other several amenities and offices, we have 5 rooms here.(Website:www.hotelclarion.com)

    3. Hotel MagnificentView at Thamel, 30 minutes to 1 hour drive from the conference venuedepending upon the traffic (not predictable). Thamel is the tourist center in Kathmandu, the hotel is avery simple and we have 4 deluxe rooms here. (Website:www.hotelmagnificient.com)

    For the conference participants a special negotiated rate of US$ 20/day/person with double bedoccupancy at Hotel Goodwill and Hotel Magnificent View, and with triple bed occupancy atHotelClarion.

    On your request the conference secretariat can help you reserve a room. But you should let us knoweither you will prefer to share a room or need a single room. A single supplementary is additional US$15/room in Hotel Goodwill and Hotel Magnificent View, and US$ 20/room in Hotel Clarion in ourspecial negotiated rate.(The above mentioned hotel charge is levied to 13% VAT and 10% service charge)

    4) ConfirmationFor those who participate from overseas,please attach your travel itinerary in your email. If so, wewould be at the airport to receive you. Conference organizers will cover your airport transfer cost. Ifwe do not receive your travel itinerary by 6 November, we consider that you are no longer interestedto attend the International Graduate Conference on Climate Change and People.

    5) MealsBreakfast - Breakfast is included in the room charge as mentioned in accommodation. Breakfast willbe served in the respective hotels.Lunch Buffet Lunch both veg and non-veg on the conference days (15-19 November 2010) will beprovided by the Organizers.Reception - Reception dinner is organized on 15 November atUTSAV from 18:00 to 20:00 PM. Theother dinners are on participants own choice and option.

    6) Internet ServiceFree wireless internet service is available in the NTNC conference building. Also the free wirelessinternet service is available in the hotels.

    7) Currency ExchangeExchange facility is available at the Airport, Hotel receptions. The conference secretariat can help youto exchange currency on request. Nepalese Rupees (NPR) is in denominations of 1000, 500, 100, 50,

    25, 20, 10, 5, 2 and 1.

    8) ElectricityPlease note that the electrical appliances in Nepal operate on 220 Volts. You are advised to carryadaptor.

    9) WeatherThe weather in Kathmandu in mid November will be fairly cold with daytime temperature of around24C and at night may fall to around 6C. Participants are recommended to bring warm clothes.(http://www.dhm.gov.np/weather)

    10) LanguageThe language of the conference is in English.
