“Log in to Primavera P6 EPPM 8.3 Version” Exercise
Section 1: Purpose This exercise takes you through the process of logging in to the P6 EPPM v8.3
software.
Section 2: Log in to Primavera Unifier Open Internet Explorer.
Navigate to the URL provided with your registration.
Enter your Username and password.
Section 3: Check that you have 5 Main Tabs
Navigate in to the tool and see that you have 5 main tabs in the application as it is
shown below.
“Customize your own Dashboard” Exercise
Section 1: Purpose This exercise will show you how you can manage your Dashboards and how to in this
case customize your own dashboard.
Section 2: Go to the Dashboard tab
Go to the dashboard tab and hit the Manage Dashboard option.
Section 3: Customize your Own Dashboard
Expand the available Dashboards and check the “Personal Workspace” box.”
Press the “Personal Workspace Dashboard” option and you will see the content of the
Personal Workspace Dashboard , which you will now customize.
Check the needed boxes as shown in the above screenshot
Go to the Layout and design the position of the portlets chosen by you.
Go to the access tab and release this Dashboard either to all the users or only to the
current user.
Section 4: View your new created Dashboard
As shown in the above screenshot you can now view the new and customized Dashboard for your future usage.
“Create a new Portfolio” Exercise
Section 1: Purpose This exercise will show you how you can create a new Portfolio using the filter option.
Section 2: Navigate to the Portfolio tab
Go and hit the Portfolio tab and following this hit the “Manage Portfolios” option.
Section 3: Create a new Project Portfolio As shown below please go to the “create Project Portfolio” option and try to create your
own Portfolio.
As shown in the above screenshot, please chose;
-By Filter,
-Current user,
-As the filter criteria;
“Budget at completion” is greater than 10000 $
Project Status equals to “active”.
-Then hit the save button.
Go back to the Portfolio Analysis subtab and view the new created Portfolio.
“Create a new Project using the template
concept”
Exercise
Section 1: Purpose This exercise will show you how you can create a new Project using a template which is
already existing in the system.
Section 2: Navigate to the EPS tab and add a new Project
-Please go to the EPS tab and go to the actions button
-Go to add >> add Project
-Add Project window opens
-Enter Project ID and Project name and select the IT template as shown in the above
screeshot.
-After this you will see the new created “Redfish” project. Under the EPS
tab. Section 3: Open the new created Project and add 3 new activities
to the Redfish Project
-Open the Redfish Project with right click.
-Under the Projects tab go to the “activities” sub tab and see the WBS o created Project
Redfish. -Go to the Testing Phase >> Test system and hit the “Insert” button on your keyboard.
This enables you to add new activities into the existing WBS structure.
-Finally click all the new created 3 activites and link them using the “Link selected
Activities” option.

“Check the Resource Overallocation” Exercise
Section 1: Purpose This exercise will show you where the Resource meta data is centrally defined
and stored in the system and will also show you how you can view the overallocation of
a specific Resource.
Section 2: Navigate to the Resource Tab
Navigate to the Resources tab and see the Resources and Roles tab as shown in the
above screenshot. This is where Resources and Roles can be defined and
stored centrally.
Section 3: Navigate to the Resource Tab >> Analysis >> Resource
usage sub tab In this section we want to show you that you can check the loading status of the
Resouce called “Gary Marshall” using the Resource usage option of P6. The red bars
below indicate the overallocated time period of this specific resource.
Section 4: Navigate to the Resource Tab >> Analysis >> Resource
Analysis sub tab
Now that we have understood the overallocation status of this resource we can
now view the load distribution of Gary Marshall based on what projects he is working or
he is planned to work on in the future. Please see the legend as shown in the
below screenshot.
“Run a user-defined Report” Exercise
Section 1: Purpose This exercise shows you how you can run & schedule the reports that are
already existing in the system.
Section 2: Navigate to the Reports tab of P6 EPPM Navigate to the Reports tab of P6 EPPM and hit the “Project status report” under P6
Reports >> Project folder.
-Right click the Project status report and click “Run the report” option.
Section 3: Run and schedule a predefined User-defined
Report
-Now you have to define the format, delivery type and also set the Report parameters
(Project ID & Project Status) which are pre-defined and can fully be configured using BI
Publisher.
-Finally you can set a frequency for the report to be created and distributed to
the defined stakeholders via mail as it is shown in the above screenshot.
