These are the various options for your blog.

Links places a sidebar on your page were you can put links to other sites

Pages allows you to information on your site outside of the normal posts format

If you want a widget, click and drag it over the section of our blog you want it to appear, it should look like this before you let go of the mouse.

To allow a section of your blog to add a widget, click on the little arrow next to the text. This will give you a tan box like above where you can drag items
