Section 1: Different Kinds of Plug spinners There are quite a few different styles of Plug Spinners, but they all work under the same principal. Utilizing the kinetic energy built up in the spring to rotate the core quick enough to keep the driver pins from sliding into the cylinder or bible. Below are a few exam-ples of the different Plug Spinners sold on Lockpicks.com.

The A1 Spinnakur or A1-SP1 is a pen style Plug Spinner that is compact and convenient to carry your pocket or in a small bag. The Gun Type Plug Spinner or D10-DPGS is a larger style of Plug Spinner. It comes with standard tips to fit any job you need it for. The Flip-It Tool or FIT-2 is another compact Plug Spinner. This spinner has comfortable grips to easily twist the plug and a large button to release the tension. The Orange Plug Spinner or PS-10 is another compact Plug Spinner that has an easy push thumb button. Comes with a few different sized plugs.

Section 2: How Plug Spinners Work Plug Spinners work on the principal of built up kinetic ener-gy being released to spin the core of the lock. By twisting the Plug Spinner’s handle while holding the base or shaft you are building up that kinetic energy. After turning it to the desired tension or when it locks into place, you have a ready to use Plug Spinner.

Once you press the button or pull the trigger it releases that built up energy to spin the core without worrying about the driver pins locking shut again. This is the most effective way to rotate the core in the correct direction for opening a picked lock.

Section 3: When to Use a Plug Spinner The main reason for needing to use a Plug Spinner is that you picked a locked and it requires you to rotate the core in the opposite direction. For example you picked a lock with clockwise rotation, but the lock only opens when the core rotates in a counter clock-wise direction.

This happens either by the way the lock was installed or how the lock core works. Let’s say you bump key a lock and it rotates in the wrong direction, you pull out your Plug Spinner and quickly rotate the core in the correct direction and you are good to go.
