Location Map: 11 Cardinal Way Haverhill Suffolk CB90DW
This is the location in which we will film our Horror film. The house belongs to Matt Rose’ Grandparents who are currently abroad for several months. This provides the
perfect opportunity to use the house (long term) without the possibility of continuity based errors because everything can be left as it is. Another advantage
of this location is that the house is relatively empty and considering our plot revolves around moving into a new house, this is extremely beneficial.
The location consists of brickwork and mahogany bordering, which almost makes the house look lifeless and dull. Metaphorically its
exterior could symbolise its evident dark history within, however it still looks like an
everyday house so that the audience can relate to the location.
The location doesn’t look like a stereotypical haunted house but has similar connotations. It looks rather empty and neglected by its previous owners,
who have almost let the house gather dust. It is unknown whether the items within the house
belong to the previous owner or to Lily, however it is unlikely that such a young woman would have so many ornaments and archaic furniture. We plan to
rearrange certain aspects of the furniture to enhance this empty and slightly distressing look. We will place emphasis on the glass ornaments of
objects within the house to create the symbolism of the fragility of life, as mentioned in the Final Idea.
The location is situated on an every day estate so that the audience can relate to it, this will increase tension because they are likely to live in a similar
setting, so the same could happen to them. There are many doors between the rooms of the confined downstairs floor that can create the impression that something or someone can be hiding behind them, tormenting with both the
antagonist and audience. The cold colours of the location ( mostly dull browns) , which will be introduced by the montage, may mirror the houses dark history,
maximizing the fear within the audience. Due to the positioning of the location, the house is well lit which creates shadows on many of the objects,
increasing the tension felt by the audience. The colours of the interior in combination with the light from the windows creates an almost blue tinge to
the shots which may mirror the houses dark past and the inevitable fate of the character.
