Location of the short film

During the shot film cross-cuts will be used between Jade’s house and the woodlands to show the juxtaposition between home and nature.

Woodland area – the woodlands is a popular location that is used throughout the short film, in these scenes natural light will be use despite the sad and heartbroken scenes set here. As the short film will be filmed during autumn, the leaves will be turning orange and falling, this will represent the change in Jade’s life.

Living Room – the short film will be filmed in Jade’s living room, where it will feature a large curved sofa which will be an important prop in scene 5 where the family liaison officer tells the sisters that their mum has died in a car crash. On wall in the living rooms there will be shelves which will have family

photographs with wooden blocks spelling ‘home’, this will create a sense of a family loving home which will create a more emotional scene. Although the bright and vibrant walls will create a homely atmosphere, dark light lighting will used in scene 5 to create a dull atmosphere.

Dining Room – the dining room will feature in scene 2 where the family are seen eating breakfast; the dining room has a large wooden table in the middle with 6 chairs placed around it. The dining room is also a vibrant room as it has bright blue and green flowery wallpaper. This will create a sense of happiness and friendly atmosphere as at this scene everything will be seen as ‘normal’.

Jade’s Bedroom – her bedroom will feature in scene 3 where she is seen sitting on her bed writing the letter to her mum explaining her relationship and how she feels. During the scene she will be sitting in the middle of her bed which will be placed in the centre of the bedroom, creating it as the focal point ensuring that the audience are focused on her, the background will be plain and simple to ensure the focus is on Jade as it’s a important topic that many of the target group will be able to relate to. Her bedroom consists of common props found in a bedroom, such as wardrobe, desk, mirror etc. Natural lighting will be used in scene 3 when she is seen writing the letter as it will create an impression of how revealing how she feels is the best option and the right thing to do.
