AU-201 A good card reader but…
…it‘s quite expensive
…it supports only a small portion of card technologies
…it can only read universal IDs (serial IDs), no private IDs
…its driver inside the Firmware does not offer any customization possibilities
Yesterday – AU-201
What Konica Minolta needs
Support of more card technologies for solution sales HID, Legic Advant, MiFare PIDs, Magnet Stripe, Motorola/Indala, RFID 125KHz, Barcode, iClass…
Device FW that can adapt to different card technologies Support depends on what’s implemented in the firmware in Japan… we can’t wait for special FW for
each case!
Better pricing Competition is tough and OpenAPI applications already might increase the total cost for one device
significantly Too expensive card readers can badly affect ROI for accounting software
A fast and reliable card evaluation process To know what kind of card a customer is dealing with and what we need to supply
A less space-consuming mounting for authentication devices Directly attached to device, theft-protection, no working table Perfect: integrated into the device

Today – Loadable Drivers
Loadable DriversLoadable Drivers
A Loadable Driver is a small add-on to MFP firmware
Each loadable driver adds additional support for an USB authentication device
Loadable drivers need to be written for specific USB devices by specific suppliers
Loadable drivers need to be uploaded to the device by CF card – similar to the firmware itself
Each driver will provide its own configuration screen for settings/activation in the Admin Mode
Once uploaded, loadable drivers can not be deleted, but only overwritten by another loadable driver
In the first step, BT and BEU will provide loadable drivers for three different new card readers by three different suppliers

After selecting PID the second screen will be displayed.
