LiveWell: Breast Cancer and Caregiver Support Program
The LiveWell: Breast Cancer and Caregiver Support Program
offers supportive services such as counseling, support groups,
respite care, transportation, childcare, social connections and
peer mentoring. The name LiveWell reflects the idea that
women at any stage of breast cancer are able to continue to
live their best lives possible. We hope to empower women
and their families to actively participate in their own health
and wellness through their personal journey facing breast
cancer. We have recently partnered with A Quality Life Com-
munity to run a yoga class and support group for cancer sur-
vivors and their families. The yoga is suitable for all levels
and is gentle enough for those who are currently undergoing
treatment or have low energy. The support group builds on
the energy and intentions set in the yoga class and creates a
safe place for sharing, listening and supporting.

To all friends of Jewish Family Service:
As 2012 ends we are grateful to all those who have supported JFS, our staff, our Board of Directors, our volunteers and our donors, all of whom make it possible for the agency to continue to effectively re-spond to the needs of those we serve. JFS supports everyone in our community. We help people face life’s challenges — illness, aging, financial uncertainty, mental health concerns, family problems or personal issues. Whether serving the elderly and their caregivers, offering counseling to individuals and families or being that safety net for those in distress, we strive to provide the best possible pro-gram and services for all.
We were blessed in 2012 to have significantly increased the level of individual donations to JFS, as dedicated and long time supporters joined with several new individuals and families to become founding members of the Chai Society. In October we held the fifth annual JFS Tribute Dinner, this time honoring two prominent members of our community, Dr. Mara Rabin and Dr. Geoff Tabin, for their ground breaking humanitarian work in the medical field. The Chai Society and the Tribute Dinner helped to raise the overall level of individual donation to JFS, funding that is critically important to sustaining and improving our programs. We are grateful to those who gave so gen-erously.
During 2012 we added an important new program, LiveWell, an initi-ative that supports women with breast cancer and their families. The program was enabled by a grant from the Susan G. Komen Founda-tion and focuses on emotional support and respite for caregivers and families coping with a breast cancer diagnosis.
We continue to offer support and counsel to individuals and families through our ‘”safety net” services. Support is provided by loans through the Free Loan Fund, emergency assistance, or through the JFS Food Pantry. We see many couples who find their lives strained due to financial distress. They can turn to us and know they can re-ceive affordable high quality counseling based on a sliding scale.
Clients requesting our services in Park City continue to grow. Coun-selors are seeing increasing numbers of individuals and families whose mental health needs are now being addressed and the Park City career Network has helped many people in their search for meaningful employment. We hope to expand both of these services in the coming years.

The future for the agency looks bright. To ensure that Jewish Family Service remains the most accessible and relevant social service agency in our community and beyond. We have chosen to become part of the community Legacy Giving program start-ing in 2013. This program , which is being created in partner-ship with other Jewish institutions in Utah, will focus on providing a long-term source of funding for all the organiza-tions, including JFS.
Thank you again to all who sustain Jewish Family Service, the agency that supports everyone in our community. We are so appreciate of your commitment and dedication.

Chai Society members commit to a minimum gift of $1800 an-nually. JFS is extremely grateful for this support. The Chai Soci-ety helps to ensure that clients can have strong, responsive programs and services for generations to come.
