Sound City Festival attracts big names to Liverpool Apr 23 2010 by Jade Wright, Liverpool Echo

WITH shows from Paloma Faith, Ian McCulloch, Delphic, The Maccabees, The Fall and Speech Debelle, Liverpool Sound City is shaping up to be one of the most interesting musical showcases of the year.

But as well as the famous names, more than 2000 local and international unsigned bands have applied to play and take part in the city s music festival for 400 performance slots.

Festival director David Pichilingi explains: We have offered a chance to play for more than 100 bands from the region.

This is our most ambitious festival and conference to date. It is shaping up to be quite spectacular. In three years Liverpool Sound City has seen growth and significant interest.

Bands now want to come into Liverpool to play in front of a world class audience with key players from the international music business that have the ability to offer them recording, sponsorship or publishing deals that can change their lives as well as playing in front of amazing Liverpool audiences, says Dave.
