YOUTH RED CROSS UNIT (FN)
AN AWARENESS PROGRAM ON IMPORTANCE OF LIFE
AND SUICIDE PREVENTION
VENUE: JBAS COLLEGE FOR WOMEN, (CAMPUS
AUDITORIUM)
SPEAKER: N. KHAALID AHAMED B.E
(FOUNDER OF URAVUGAL TRUST)
The unit of YRC conducted an awareness program on suicide
prevention and importance of life, which helped students
interactive section for the fresher’s and YRC members of 2nd&
3rdyears and there was an amazing feedback from students. The
badges were issued for the department representatives.

DEPARTMENT OF HISTORICAL STUDIES-
ASSOCIATION (FN)
Inauguration of the Historical Studies Association was held on 6th
August 2019 at10.00a.m. in the Seminar Hall. The Chief Guest of
Honour was Prof.N.E. Raj, Hon.Professor, Indian Institute of
Human Rights ,New Delhi,(Tamil Nadu Region). He highlighted
the various articles on Human Rights particularly to women from
the Indian Constitution through a Power Point Presentation .Later
he had an interactive session with staff and students.

DEPARTMENT OF CHEMISTRY(FN)
SUSTAINABLE WATER INTEGRATED
MANAGEMENT(SWIM-2019)
The Department of Chemistry of our college organized an
International Seminar on the topic Sustainable Water Integrated
Management(SWIM-2019) held on 21st of August 2019 at the
Golden Jubilee Seminar Hall. The Chief Guest for the day was Dr.
Oleg V. Shipin, Associate Professor, Asian Institute of
technology(AIT),Thailand and the other guests were Mr. Gowher
Sheriff, Caustic-Chlorine plant specialist, Perfect Technologies and
Trading, Perumbakkam, Chennai, Mr. Vignesh Ramanan, Global
Business Development, VATECH WABAG Ltd, Chennai and Dr.
Ramesh Duraiswamy, Associate Professor, Faculty of Natural
Sciences, Arba Minch University, Ethiopia and the valedictory
address was proposed by Dr.K.Pandian, COE, University of Madras.
Students also put up stalls and sold hand-made, hygienic dish

wash and hand wash liquids. Students also tested water samples
for acidity and TDS brought by the participants and faculty.
YOUTH RED CROSS UNIT (FN)
Accident free nation Programme
Venue: Natesan park and panagal park

The YRC unit of our college in collaboration with
'THOZHAN'(NGO) did an awareness programme on 'Accident free
nation' which took place at 73 parks throughout chennai and our
college girls took charge of 'Panagal park' and 'Natesan park' in
which they demonstrated first-aid techniques to the adults and
children.
NSS-SWACHHTA PAKHWARA WEEK (FN)
The NSS unit of JBAS college conducted a SWACHHTA
PAKHWARA PROGRAMME from 7th of august 2019 to 14th August
2019. Under this programme the NSS Volunteers of the college
took part in various activities such as rallies, campaigns, cleaning
projects and seminars. The programme gave platform for the
students to express their concerns regarding the environment and
gave them an opportunity to spread awareness regarding the
environmental pollution and educating them in ways that one
could help keep the environment clean and green.

CENTRE FOR WOMEN'S STUDIES (FN)
SELFIE
On the 27th and 28th of August 2019, The Centre for Women's
Studies organised an event called SELFIE - a Self Image
enchancement training program for the UG students by Global

adjustments foundation. It was for the first and third year students
for their communicative and career guidance by the speaker Mrs.
Usha Ramakrishnan, director of global adjustments foundation.
PLACEMENT UNIT- DIGITAL MARKETING
TRAINING (FN)
The career guidance and the placement unit of our college
offered various job and training opportunities to the students.
The Digital Marketing training took place for two weeks . Students
were given an opportunity to explore their creativity level in
marketing.
Online promotion procedures were also taught with giving a hope
of job offer.
Protector and Gamble Hygiene &healthcare has blown
opportunities for the students as trial assistants ,the interview
took place in our college on august 13th.It is a part time job in
which more than 20 students were selected to work in Apollo
hospital
Hire mee conducted assessment test for the final year students in
which more than 150 students from both morning and evening
shift has enthusiastically participated.
Redisolve interview was taken place on 15th of August in our
college premises.
More than 30 students were selected for second round.
The CSR funded 3Dprinting training took place in our college lab
for one week . Students came up with creative miniature models.

PG & RESEARCH DEPARTMENT OF ZOOLOGY (FN)
Inauguration of Life Science Association
On 16th August2019, the Inauguration of Life Science association
was jointly organised by the PG and Research Dept. of Zoology,
Dept. of Plant Biology and Plant Biotechnology and Dept. of
Biochemistry.
The Guest of Honour – Dr.D.Sudhakaran, General Manager,
Golden Jubilee Biotech Park for Women Society, Navallur
delivered the Inaugural address on the topic: Scope of Bioscience
and its Current Trends.

Department of Psychology: Annual association (FN)
On 7th August, the Department conducted it's annual association. The
speaker for the day was Mr.Karthik Lakshmanan-a counseling psychologist
and psycho-oncologist. The topic was based on 'Easy integration
counseling model'. The 3rd year students also received their add-on
course certificates on the same day.
Department of English: Association (FN)
The department of English conducted their association on 30th of
August in the college auditorium. The event was graced by the
presence of Vibha Bahtra ,Mahat and Meera Mithun. It was an
Intra departmental competition. The students of English
department showcased their acting skills and creativity. Later
prizes were distributed based on various criteria. It was a
successful event.

DEPARTMENT OF ENGLISH (AN)
REPORT ON WRITING WORKSHOP
The Department of English Literature of the Afternoon Session
conducted a workshop on ‘Rubrics of Writing’ on the 6th of August,
2019 at the college premises. The workshop was conducted by
Dr.Savithri Sundar, who was accompanied by Mrs. Padma
Subramaniam. Dr.Savithri Sundar is the retired Principal of
Government Arts and Science College, Uthiramerur and Mrs. Padma
Subramaniam is the Director of Academy for Career Excellence. The
workshop began with a prayer recital by Ms. Fathima of II BA English
Literature. The Welcome Address was delivered by Ms. Banumathy of
III BA English Literature. Dr.Savithri began the workshop with a ‘Word
Game’ activity based on literary works, where the students were
made to guess the correct words. She then explained about the
development of the ‘Writing Process.’ She also conducted other
activities for the students such as a ‘Crossword on Verbs’, “Sona-
Brainstorming”, ‘Word Building’, ‘Paragraph Analysis’ and ‘Mind
Mapping’. Dr.Savithri talked about ‘LSRW’ (Listening, Speaking,
Reading, Writing) skills. She also explained the “Five Steps in Writing”
and gave the “Three tools for Business Writing.” She also gave
mnemonics as tips for writing. The mnemonics were ‘PROMISE’ which
stood for “Paragraph, Reading, one idea and One paragraph, Make
notes, Introduction, Summarize, Example” and ‘GAP’ which stood for
“Genre, Audience, Purpose.” She concluded the workshop by

reminding the students of the famous adage “A Pen is mightier than
a Sword” and advised the students to choose words carefully while
writing or while expressing in any other form. The students found the
workshop to be insightful, interactive and entertaining. The Vote of
Thanks was proposed by Ms. Sanmitha of III BA English Literature
and the workshop concluded with the rendition of the National
Anthem by the student choir.
REPORT ON ED CELL INAUGRATION (AN)
The Inauguration of the ‘ENTREPRENEURIAL DEVELOPMENT
CELL’ was held on 6th August 2019 in the college Auditorium. All
the ED Cell members were a part of the program. The event
started with the Prayer by the student coordinator of the IDD
department. The welcome address was given by Ms.Ayesha of
BBA department. The guest of honour for the event was Mrs.

Vijayalakshmi Devarajan. She is a successful entrepreneur with 19
years of industrial experience. She is one of the 100 Women
achievers in the category of women empowerment. The stage was
taken over by her and she explained the importance of
entrepreneurship and the three P’s to success that is ‘Policy,
Persistence, Patience.’ Her speech was inspiring. The chief guest
then launched the logo and Facebook page of the cell.
After this, the stage was taken over by the ED Cell students. The
students performed a skit on “Inspiration to Entrepreneur’s”,
which was based on young entrepreneurs who came to know
about the government schemes and succeeded in life.
The students also performed a mime act that showcased a
struggling girl and how she became a successful entrepreneur.
The students skilfully enacted the girl’s life starting from
graduation, taking up a job, insecurity in a job and eventually
starting up a new venture. This was followed by the badge
distribution to the respective student coordinators and staff
ambassadors of all the departments.
The Vote of Thanks was delivered by Ms.Ayesha of BBA and the
event concluded with the recition of the National Anthem by the
College Team.

REPORT ON INDEPENDENCE DAY CELEBRATION
The 73rd Independence Day Celebration was held at the college
on 15th August 2019 at 10:00 am. The Chief Guest for the event
was Dr. C.L. Ramakrishnan, Former Director of Vigilance and Anti-
Corruption. The event began with a parade by the NCC student
cadets and was followed by the Chief Guest hoisting the flag. The
Welcome Address was delivered by Dr.Shahnaz Ahmed, Principal
of JBAS College for Women. The Chief guest gave a patriotic
speech about Freedom. He also talked about possible steps that
could be taken to make our nation a better one such as abolishing
Corruption, Black Money, etc. Several activities such as singing,
drama, and dancing were performed by the students to instill the
spirit of patriotism into the minds and hearts of their fellow
students. The Vote of Thanks was delivered by Dr.Amthul Azeez,
Vice- Principal of the Forenoon Session.

REPORT ON PASTEUR CLUB INAUGURATION
(AN)
The Pasteur Club (AN) inaugural event for the academic year
2019-20 was held on the 17th of August, 2019. The Chief Guest
for the event was Mr. M.MuhammadSherif, Assistant Professor,
Government Unani Medical College, Chennai. The event began
with a prayer recital by Ms.Ayesha Sayed, I M.Sc Microbiology and
its translation was delivered by Ms. Shabana Tabassum, III B.Sc
Microbiology. Ms. Esther Fedora delivered the Welcome Address.
Ms. Irfana Tabassum, Coordinator of the Pasteur Club gave the
Dynamics of the club and the proposed activities. Ms. Humeira
gave the annual club report of the previous academic year of
2018-19. This was followed by a speech which was given by the
chief guest, Mr. Sherif, on “Unani Tib- A Holistic Approach to
Health.” He talked about the Principles of Unani, Classification of
Diseases according to the Unani medical system, Role of Unani in
promoting Modern Medicine and Preventive and Promotive
Health Care. The speech was followed by the Felicitation and the

Oath-taking ceremony of the new office bearers of the club for
the current academic year. Ms. Esther Fedora was appointed as
the President of the Pasteur club, Ms. Jennifer Diana as the
Secretary, Ms. Humeira as the Treasurer, Ms. Shifa Mariam as the
Vice- President and Ms. Ramya as the Joint Secretary respectively
and the former office bearers were also honored. The prize
winners for the E-Poster competition held on March 2019 were
announced where Ms. Pooja bagged the first place, Ms. Reshma
the second and Ms. Fathima Raja bagged the third place
respectively. The Vote of Thanks was delivered by Ms. Jennifer
Diana and the event concluded with the rendition of the National
Anthem by the student choir.
DEPARTMENT OF CORPORATE ECONOMICS (AN)
REPORT ON ECONOISTA 2K19
The Department of Corporate Economics (AN) conducted an
intercollegiate and inter-department fest, Econoista-2k19 on 19th, 20th

and 21st of August, 2019. There were several on- stage and off-stage
events that were conducted and awarded. Dr.Kumar Ganesan, Scientist
and NLP Therapist were the Chief Guest for the inaugural ceremony and
he addressed the gathering on the topic of Environment and how we can
make it clean, safe and green. This was followed by various events with the
first event being Photography which was judged by Mr. Michael O’ Brien.
The second event was Shipwreck and it was judged by Mr. Vamsi
Rajkumar. The third event was Face Painting for which Mrs. Deepika
Augustine was the judge. The fourth event was Mime competition and the
last event, Adzap, was judged by Mrs. Rama Rajesh. Mr.Chandra Mohan,
Film Maker and Social Activist was the Guest of Honour for the valedictory
ceremony in which he addressed the gathering about the necessity of
water and awarded the prizes to the winners of various competitions (both
intercollegiate and interdepartmental). Finally, the function concluded by
4:30 with the rendition of the National Anthem by the Student Choir.
REPORT ON GRADUATION 2018 (AN)
The Graduation Ceremony for all the students of the batch 2015-2018
(AN) was held on 31st August 2019 at the college premises. The Chief
Guest for the event was Dr. R. Ravanan, Joint Director of Collegiate

Education, Chennai Region. Other dignitaries present were Mr. Moosa
Raza, Chairman, Southern India Education Trust (SIET), Mr. Faizur Rahman
Sayeed, Secretary, Southern India Education Trust (SIET) and
Correspondent, JBAS College for Women and Dr. (Mrs.) Shahnaz Ahamed,
Principal, JBAS College for Women. The event began with the recital of
prayer by Ms. Fathima Raja, I M.Sc (Microbiology). Next, Mr. Ravanan
delivered the Graduate Address, He talked about life after college and the
upcoming experiences that the graduates were going to face in their life.
He also provided tips on how to make the right choice and choose the
best career based on their interests. The event concluded with Mr.
Ravanan awarding the degree certificates to all the students.
