THE SECRET TO LONG LUSCIOUS HAIR

Hello My Fellow Fashionista’s!

So I am SUPER excited to review on the Mane ‘n Tail Shampoo & Conditioner as it is truly one of my top beauty picks for 2013!

Who doesn’t want long beautiful thick hair? Luckily this product not only works but it is also ex-tremely CHEAP. The product is just under $10 for both the Shampoo and Conditioner andit can be found at your local Walmart locations.

I actually discovered this beauty secret through two very beauti-ful and talented Make-Up Artists (MUA’s) Seher and Jayni (I have included their links below). After watching/reading their own per-sonal reviews on this product, I decided to give it a try for myself.

In all honestly, I was a little thrown off when I initially discovered this product is used on horses, so I decided to do some of my own research by visiting their website. The website has a useful FAQ tab that gives you all the informa-tion you need to know about the product. After reading all the in-formation I was reassured that the product was indeed safe to use.

My Personal Results

I can’t even begin to tell you how amazing this product has been for me. I naturally have very long and thick hair and always have issues with my hair getting very oily and having chunks of it falling out each time I wash my hair. I knew the root cause of these issues was from the shampoo and conditioner that I was using and I would switch up my hair products every few months. However nothing seemed to work- until now that is! I can honestly say that Mane ‘n Tail has solved both of these issues forme! Not only that, but my hair feels so much healthier and softer. I can feel the difference especially when I flat iron my hair (I naturally have curly hair). I have raved about this product to my close family and friends and those who have tried it for themselves love it. If your new years resolution is to grow out your hair I strongly recommend this product!

1 Choosing a Headband StyleSelect a headband that not only suits your personal style but one that also compliments the outfit that you are pairing it with. Go witha simple headband if your outfit is busy as there is already enough going on your overall look or opt for a more embellished option ifyour ensemble is more simple and chic.

Remember this look works well with your favourite blue jeans and a loose flowy top or a nice maxi style gown. That is why I find this particular hair style so versatile because no matter the wardrobeselection you choose it seems to virtually work with everything.

3 Headband Placement Select a headband that not only You can choose to wear the head-band just below your hairline or a few inches below it. I personally prefer to place it just below myhairline. I feel it just falls more naturally and prevents me from having pieces of my hair fall out of place and stops the headband from shifting side to side.

I also recommend using a few bobbi pins at the back of your hair to further secure the headband.

If your headband feels too snug or tight I recommend trying to stretch it out BEFORE you wear it, as the last thing you want is a headache at the end of the night because your headband was too tight

2 Hair Texture / Length There are no rules when it comes to the hair texture and length you decide to go with when styling your boho headband. Again it all depends on your mood and the overall look you are trying to achieve. Whether you have long curly hair or a short straight bob it ALL works.

As long as you pull off the hairstyle like you OWN it, it will look amaz-ing on you. Believe me when I tell you that you will inspire those around you to give it a try as well.

I wanted to do a special blogpost to share the outfit I wore on my birthday this past weekend. I am in LOVE with feathers and was searching for the perfect dress that incorpo-rates feathers in a classy (not tacky) way.

When I saw this lace and feather dress featured on ASOS I fell instantly in love with it (ok well maybe just a little obsessed!).

ABSTRACT ART

When I told my close friend that my next blog post would revolve around my abstract art inspired dress her reply was “Abstract art? You mean when someone just gets a brush and strokes a few colours here and there without any real meaning?”

Well, needless to say abstract art is not everyone’s cup of tea! Before I go any further I want to provide you with the definition of what abstract art is so that you have a better understanding of its meaning and purpose from an artists perspective:

Abstract Art is art that does not attempt to represent external, recognizable reality but seeks to achieve its effect using

shapes, forms, colors, and textures.

As the famous saying goes “beauty is in the eye of the beholder”. I think the same concept can be applied to the observation of any form of abstract art. In my case, I like the idea of being drawn to and lost in a particular painting that in some strange way offers me peace and calmness.

One of my first major art investment purchases was this abstract canvas painting from a local art boutique (picture bottom left). I wake up to this painting every morning and it’s something I never get tired of starring at.

Those who have ever gone shopping with me know that when I walk into any clothing store/boutique I literally scan the shop within minutes and gravitate towards items that speak to me. I have often had friends and family that know my taste and style say “that is such a Gagan dress!”

When I saw this abstract print inspired silk dress and tried it on I literally felt like I was walking around wearing a piece of beautiful art.

With a statement dress like this you obviously need to pair it with statement jewellery pieces that are classy but not over the top since the dress is really the focal point of the outfit. For this look I went with gold jewellery pieces and for the shoes I chose these AMAZING brown pony leather shoes from the Joe Fresh Runway collection.

Whether you are a girl who loves her flats or one who can ONLY be seen in her high stilettos, a nice pair of shoes can always com-plement any outfit. Some girls wish for a closet full of shoes while others are more practical and satis-fied with just owning a few.

I feel it is a way for a couple to look and feel like a cohesive unit. It is also just visually more appealing, especially when you look back at the pictures you’ve taken.

Luckily for me my boy-friend also likes when our outfits coordinate. So when we attend special events our final outfit choices are ones that we have both equally contrib-uted to (ok, maybe I have a little more say). ;)

decided to match his tie and pocket square with my outfit. I took my outfit to Le Chateau and literally held it beside all the colour choices and selected the closest colour. To me this is always the easiest way to ensure the colours actually match. If you go by memory there is a potential risk of selecting the wrong colour.

Lets face it most guys do not like to shop. They are in and out because guys know what they want and they go purchase it. However, some guys actually enjoy shopping and there’s nothing wrong with that. Whether it’s for your day-to-day office job or a special event, a suit is clearly a big investment. Therefore, it is important to know all the things to look for before making thatpurchase.

I am going to suggest a few pointers not only on what to look for when purchasing and tailoring your suit, but also how to style it and add the finishing touches to reflect your own personal style.

Making the right investment We all know that purchasing a well-tailored suit is not always cheap, so it will take time to build up your closet. The best advice I can give to you is to invest in the fundamental staple colours as these are the ones that will go a long way in your wardrobe (es-pecially when you are mixing and matching).

The staple colours you need to consider are black, grey, navy, and brown. Just make sure you select the right shade for each colour that looks best on you (with exception to the black suit). The best thing to do is take someone who will be brutally honest with you in terms of how it looks, rather than the part-time associate at the store that will tell you it looks “good” to get the sale.

The Fit The fit of the suit is very import-ant as it can make or break the way the suit looks on you. You want to make sure any suit you buy, whether it is $300 or $1,000 (or more), fits your body type. The only way to do that is to ensure you have a solid tailor.

I strongly believe that the fit of your suit is only as good as your tailor. Make sure you find the right person for the job. Don’t go to the lady in a basement that charges $25 to tailor your whole suit be-cause it’s affordable (it may just end up costing you more to fix the damage). You can make a $300 suit look like a $1,000 suit with the right seamstress.

If you don’t know someone that will tailor your suit to your specs, just ask some trustworthy sources that you know and you’ll be sur-prised by how much people are willing to share where they bought something, got something made, or got a good deal.

STYLING YOUR OUTFITThis is solely based on two things:

1) Where you are going (type of event, meeting, work, etc.),2) How you feel that day

Once you’ve picked the suit you want to wear, you can now put the whole outfit together.

1 The Dress Shirt

If you do like bright colours make sure you can pull it off otherwise you will look bad and you won’t even know it.

5 Dress Socks

You can match socks with what you’re wearing or just do the complete opposite. Don’t wear white or black sports socks with your dress shoes.

6 Where It With Confidence

The more comfortable you are in the clothes you wear, the better those clothes are going to look on you. Your first impression is your last impression.

2 Ties and Pocket Squares

When you start to match things exactly your look may become a little dull. Experiment with a few different patterns until you find a combination that you like.

3 Cuff Links

Your cuff links can be anything you want them to be; they are meant to have that customized personal touch that reflects you.

4 Your Belt and Shoes – To

Match or Not To Match?

Have you always wanted beautiful thick come-hither eyebrows?Fuller eyebrows portray a sense of youth and can instantly change the look of your face. Most people don’t realize how important your eyebrows can be to your overall appearance and how the shape and size of your brows can instantly transform your face.

HOW TO ACHIEVE PERFECT THICK EYEBROWS

1 How to Stimulate Your Eyebrow Hair Growth I know some readers out there may say that they naturally have thin eyebrows and can’t seem to grow them out. Others have over tweezed/waxed throughout the years and as a result have developed a few bald spots where the hair follicles no longer grow.

Then there are most of us (myself included) that have had that all too familiar bad experience of walking into a beauty salon and having your eyebrows completely thinned out despite your CLEAR direction to just clean them up.

The last time I had this horrific experience I remember coming home and frantically searching online for ways to get them to quickly grow back.

Luckily, I found two products that worked wonders and I was able to get my thick eyebrows back within just a couple of weeks.

If you stick either one of these two products and apply them at night before bed I am positive you will see results in just a few weeks.

A) Castor Oil - I personally prefer using the Jamaican Black Castor Oil, but any brand from your local Pharmacy should do the trick.

B) Ardell Brow & Lash Growth Accelerator Treatment Gel - This stuff is AMAZING but again the key is to use it as directed.

2 How to create the perfect eyebrow shape for your face A. Take a pencil and line it up from the side of your nose straight up to your eyebrow, this is where your eyebrow should start.

B. Then take the pencil from the tip of your nose across your pupil, this is where your arch should be.

C. Last take your pencil from the side of your nose again across the outer corner of your eye and this is where your eyebrow should end.

4 The Final Step: How To Fill In Your Eyebrows1) Comb your brows to lay all the hair in one direction with a brow comb.

2) Use an eyebrow wax as it is specially formulated to shape and hold your brows in place.

3) Fill in your brows with a pencil/or eyebrow powder. I personally prefer using a powder as it looks more natural.

4) Use a small flat brush and apply a cream concealer under the brows to tidy up the edges. By doing this step your brows appear more defined and “clean.”

REMEMBER: Your eyebrows are sisters NOT twins. They do not have to be identical to one another.

3 Grooming/ maintaining your eyebrows There are a few methods you can use to shape and groom your eyebrows. The three most popular methods are tweezing, waxing and threading.

1) Tweezing: to pluck the hair using tweezers

2) Waxing: is a form of semi-permanent hair removal which removes the hair from the root. New hair will not grow back in the previously waxed area for two to eight weeks.

3) Threading: In threading, a thin cotton thread specially designed for threading is doubled, then twisted. It is then rolled over areas of unwanted hair, plucking the hair at the follicle level.

Personally, I prefer getting my eyebrows professionally threaded

as it provides more precise control in shaping the eyebrows. I also tweeze my eyebrows in between salon visits in order to maintain them and keep them clean.

I also recommend going to a professional if you don’t feel comfortable removing unwanted hair. The last thing you want is to accidently wax off a chunk of your eyebrows! Not only that, a professional is able to determine what the best eyebrow shape is for your face. Remember you can also bring in a picture(s) of the type of eyebrow shape you want to your beauty salon.

I would also suggest that once you have found a professional who is able to shape your brows to your satisfaction, stick with that individual as it will prevent you from walking out of the salon looking like a hot mess.

The brushes come with a very innovative little holder. It has a toggle on it so you can fold it

back and stand your brushes up for easy access. There is also additional space if you want to add in some other brushes. You can also loosen the toggle and use the velcro closure to store or travel with your brushes (how clever!).

The cost of each of the collections is just under $20 and for the quality you really are definitely getting your money’s worth! In all honestly after purchasing these brush sets I regret spending so much money on my MAC brushes. I can understand if you are a professional MUA you would invest in more expensive brushes, but if you are using them for own personal everyday use, these brushes really do the trick.

HALLOWEEN COSTUME IDEAS - NERD ALERT!Who ever said nerds couldn’t be fashionable too?!?!

A few Halloween’s ago I decided to dress up as a stylish nerd channeling my inner geek chic for a United Way Halloween costume contest and the best part is - I WON!

I thought I would do a quick post and share this costume idea for my reader’s.

All of these items were already in my closet, aside from the checkered knee-high socks which I purchased from a local Halloween store.

INSPIRATIONAL IDEAS TO ACHIEVE THAT NERDY LOOK

Where to purchase: Halloween Store VS Value Village

1) Your Local Halloween Store: Personally I think the full nerdy costumes online and in the Halloween stores are a bit pricey. However, I would purchase the nerdy accessories (suspenders, nerd glasses, knee-high socks) from there, as they are reasonably priced and offer a variety of some pretty funky prints and designs to choose from.

2) Value Village and/or Thrift Shop: Since I’ve included some inspirational “nerdy” ensembles above, I am confident you can create any one of those looks yourself for just under $20 from your local Value Village and/or thrift shop. I would suggest searching your wardrobe first and see what additional items you need to complete the look. You’ll be surprised at some of the items you forget you had that could work well for this costume idea.

HALLOWEEN COUPLE COSTUME IDEAS - Superman & Superwoman And/Or Lois Lane & Clark Kent Halloween is definitely one of my FAVORITE times of the year as it brings out my inner child! We can all reminisce about fond childhood memories in anticipation and excitement for all the candy we would receive from trick-o-treating, only to be pillaged and half eaten by our parents or siblings (at least in my case!).

Halloween is a day you get to dress up and transform into ANYONE or ANYTHING that your heart desires - the possibilities are endless.

I thought it would be a great idea to do a few Halloween posts with my boyfriend Jiwan to share a few costume ideas for the couples out there.

Since this year is the 75th Anniversary of Superman, I thought the first post should be a tribute to the superhero icon himself.

Option 1: Superman & Superwoman This option may be suited for those couples that have a bigger budget and are willing to pay just over $100 for the two full costumes, as opposed to a Do-It-Yourself (DIY) project. I borrowed our costumes from my brother and sister-in-law which they purchased online from Costume Express.

Option 2: Superman & Lois Lane This option is for those couples that are on a budget and may want to just purchase one costume, OR a past “Superman” who wants to re-use a costume from a previous year with the NEW addition of “Lois” on their arm! ;)

For Lois Lane you need some sort of business attire (pant suit, dress, blazer etc). Most of you probably already have these items in your wardrobe. If not, or you can borrow items from your family or friends.

Value Village is also a great option as you could probably find a business attire ensemble for just under $15.00.

Option 3: Lois Lane & Clark Kent This is probably the easiest and cheapest costume to achieve out of the three. All these items were already in both our closets. As previously mentioned, if you don’t have business attire you can borrow something from your friends or family or go to Value Village.

You can find a Superman shirt at your local mall or in one of those custom made t-shirt shops or the flea-market for just under $20.00.

I was super excited when Ruchika Verma, owner of Lesonne Bridals agreed to collaborate with me on my Halloween blog posts.

Ruchika decided to go with a smokey black eye and a bright red lipstick to pull together the look for both the Superwoman option and Lois Lane.

To transition over to the Lois Lane look I wentover the red lipstick with more of a bright pink shade to switch it up. I used L.A Girl lipstick in the colour “True Love.”

A ROYAL AFFAIRHello Fashionista’s,

Recently, I attended my friends wedding and of course had to share what I wore to this event.

The outfit is my own design from my custom made clothing boutique Anaya Couture. This outfit that I designed is one of my boyfriend’s favourite outfits because in his words, it looks very “Royal”. Thus, inspiring the title of this blogpost!

When it comes to an outfit I believe that accessories can instantly transform the whole look of your ensemble (I have preached this many times in my previous posts). But I suggest that you play around with different accessory options before you commit. Remember my number one rule is that your outfit should always “balance”. Meaning, for example, if you have really big statement earrings forget wearing a necklace and pair it instead with a beautiful cuff bracelet.

I decided to go with gold and pearl accessories as I think it really compliments the sequence embroidery on my outfit. I am OBSESSED with this rhinestone headpiece and it was only $7.99 (what a great deal!).

P.S - If you are wondering why Jiwan has a moustache he is participating in Movember. He kind of looks like an old school Bollywood actor with his side part and moustache, no? On a serious note, this is the month to raise awareness, so don’t forget to donate and make a difference in men’s health.
