Toward Our New ParishThe Steering Committee for the amalgamation of Caboolture and Stanley River Parishes, for our movement into one new parish, meet last week on 8th August. Our discussion covered a number of important areas: first, the need for consulta- tion on pastoral issues that will arise with the creation of a new parish (including dates of times for these consultations), and particularly around the change of Sun- day Mass times; second, the processes that need to be put in place between now and the end of the year for formation of one new Parish Council and one Finance Council (more of this in the weeks to come); third, and significantly, the formation of a prayer that we can all pray together at our Sunday Masses in preparation for the creation of our new parish; and, fourth, the naming of our new parish. The Consultation Times for our communities are as follows: 24th August St Peter’s 7pm 25th August St Mary’s Woodford 9am 1st September St Michael’s Kilcoy 9am 8th September Little Flower, Bribie Is. 9.30am 8th September St Peter’s 11am 15th September St Peter’s 8am 15th September Beachmere 9.30am This weekend there is, as you see (over the page), three proposed scenarios for the change in Sunday Mass times. They are all proposals, offered to all parishion- ers to ponder which might provide the best “fit” for the pastoral needs of our vari- ous communities, and the ability of two priests to attend to the schedule of mass- es. This does not preclude the use of Supply priests for our Sunday masses. How- ever, the schedule of masses needs to be able to accomplished by two priests. As we amalgamate our two parishes, we will be forming one new parish entity, as proposed, from January 1st 2020. This parish will need a new name. While the various names of our Churches will remain: St Michael’s, Little Flower, St Mary’s, and St Peter’s; we will require a new whole of parish name. The Committee is ask- ing for suggestions and submissions from parishioners for this new parish name. This is a very important issue, as our new parish name will identify us as a particu- lar section of God’s people within the Catholic Archdiocese of Brisbane. If you would like to submit a proposal for our new name, please send this to Caboolture Parish Office at [email protected]. After the Committee’s dis- cernment, the proposed name will be presented to Archbishop Mark for approval. The following is our prayer in preparation for our amalgamation, which will be in- cluded into our Sunday Prayers of the Faithful. May it bring God’s graceful bless- ings on us all as we venture into our future. We pray: That with a profound openness to the Spirit, courage, humility and wis- dom, we form a new parish unity formed for God’s mission. Toward Our New Parish…

The Steering Committee for the amalgamation of Caboolture and Stanley River

Parishes, for our movement into one new parish, meet last week on 8th August.

Our discussion covered a number of important areas: first, the need for consulta-

tion on pastoral issues that will arise with the creation of a new parish (including

dates of times for these consultations), and particularly around the change of Sun-

day Mass times; second, the processes that need to be put in place between now

and the end of the year for formation of one new Parish Council and one Finance

Council (more of this in the weeks to come); third, and significantly, the formation

of a prayer that we can all pray together at our Sunday Masses in preparation for

the creation of our new parish; and, fourth, the naming of our new parish.

The Consultation Times for our communities are as follows:

24th August – St Peter’s 7pm

25th August – St Mary’s Woodford 9am

1st September – St Michael’s Kilcoy 9am

8th September – Little Flower, Bribie Is. 9.30am

8th September – St Peter’s 11am

15th September – St Peter’s 8am

15th September – Beachmere 9.30am

This weekend there is, as you see (over the page), three proposed scenarios for

the change in Sunday Mass times. They are all proposals, offered to all parishion-

ers to ponder which might provide the best “fit” for the pastoral needs of our vari-

ous communities, and the ability of two priests to attend to the schedule of mass-

es. This does not preclude the use of Supply priests for our Sunday masses. How-

ever, the schedule of masses needs to be able to accomplished by two priests.

As we amalgamate our two parishes, we will be forming one new parish entity, as

proposed, from January 1st 2020. This parish will need a new name. While the

various names of our Churches will remain: St Michael’s, Little Flower, St Mary’s,

and St Peter’s; we will require a new whole of parish name. The Committee is ask-

ing for suggestions and submissions from parishioners for this new parish name.

This is a very important issue, as our new parish name will identify us as a particu-

lar section of God’s people within the Catholic Archdiocese of Brisbane. If you

would like to submit a proposal for our new name, please send this to Caboolture

Parish Office at [email protected]. After the Committee’s dis-

cernment, the proposed name will be presented to Archbishop Mark for approval.

The following is our prayer in preparation for our amalgamation, which will be in-

cluded into our Sunday Prayers of the Faithful. May it bring God’s graceful bless-

ings on us all as we venture into our future.

We pray: That with a profound openness to the Spirit, courage, humility and wis-

dom, we form a new parish unity formed for God’s mission.

Blessings,

Fr David (Chair, the Steering Committee)

PARISH NEWS & HAPPENINGS Stories of Faith: Patricia, 71, Brisbane

I love my Catholic faith, and live it every day.

Without the Eucharist in Mass and listening to the homily, I would find life more

difficult. Our western world leads many people on the wrong paths in life, and if

they have no guidance from our church leaders, we will see empty pews in our

churches. Especially under 55’s.

Our Catholic schools must prepare our students to be more active in the practice

of their faith, and to resist the temptations that await them in the wider world.

Our young people want the Church to be more inclusive of both men and wom-

en. And to realise, also, that they, the youth, have had little exposure to what the

Church offers as in previous generations. Change must come.
