List of technology tools Prepared by: Jean-Claude Aura April, 2011 Page 1 The tools listed below form a integral part of my teaching. While some may work alone, others are often combined for better results. 1. Dreamweaver This web design package empowers you with unlimited opportunities to customize your website. If not in the mood for a day-to-day battle with creativity, your only other option is web-based programs such as Google Sites. 2. Edublogs This is a prime educational tool. I create a class blog where students access assignments and receive regular announcements. They then post their assignments on their personal blog and comment on their classmates' work. A great interactive tool for modern education. 3. Google docs This software as a service (aka SAS) possesses almost all the features of MS Office, but on the cloud. Although its functions are a bit limited, it's improving rapidly and growing in popularity. It helps students store their work and access it from any computer connected to the internet. 4. Delicious This social bookmarking site not only allows you to save your bookmarks on the cloud, where you can access them from any computer, but it also enables sharing and viewing bookmarks of other users. In this way, you can track of important bookmarks by looking at the number of visitors to the site. 5. Issuu Here's an excellent site that will publish your work professionally. For a hefty yearly fee, it will allow many additional options like document sharing. An uncommon asset of this application is the ability to add audio to your documents. A MUST TRY!

The tools listed below form a integral part of my teaching. While some may work alone, others are often combined for better results.

1. Dreamweaver

This web design package empowers you with unlimited opportunities to customize your website. If not in the mood for a day-to-day battle with creativity, your only other option is web-based programs such as Google Sites.

2. Edublogs

This is a prime educational tool.

4. Delicious

This social bookmarking site not only allows you to save your bookmarks on the cloud, where you can access them from any computer, but it also enables sharing and viewing bookmarks of other users.

A MUST TRY!

6. Jaycut Another software as a service (SAS) for movie makers. Its user-friendliness makes it highly desirable. Students can use any picture and add audio without the need for conversion. Embedding couldn't be any easier. It may lack some features of regular movie software like Windows Movie Maker, but it's very practical for movies on the go.

7. Jing

You can create screencasts and capture pictures with this application. Very practical for tutorials and stand alone instructions during the teacher's absence. Also very useful for student who want to record their own presentations while presenting. The uses of Jing are a handful. Put your imagination at work!

8. Netvibes

This feed aggregator keeps you on top of things with its constant alerts. Students can stay up-to-date with their favorite topics without wasting valuable time looking for the latest articles. Along with Edublogs, this tool informs students who has posted a comment on their blog. Beats time!

9. Slideboom

This is an excellent way to embed PowerPoint presentations in your website. Slideboom prevails over its counterparts (Slideshare) with its ability to upload audio immediately recorded into the presentation. Very few online applications, if any, support this option. You can decide to upload your PowerPoint as a presentation or a movie.

10. YouTube

When all else fails, you can rely on YouTube to embed your videos in your website. Just make sure you don't post copyright material or your video will be removed. It's fast, easy, and reliable.
