Nala (Movie)

When I was looking at Nala in the movie I was focusing on structure and focused of the main features of her the nose and the ears. While looking at the movie this was my main focus to enable me to develop my design for my mask.

Nala (Stage)

While studying Nala from the stage show I focused on the headdress idea to again develop my ideas. One of the key ideas for my design was developed from the stage show. This was the idea of a headband which you can see in the image to the left.

Expanding My Ideas

Structure: The structure of the mask was developed from this design. I decided to use a headband to be base of the mask and build ears onto the top of it.

Texture: The texture I was decided to create was fluffy ‘cute’ lion ears which would resemble younger Nala that also could be reversed to show the older Nala.

Colour: The colours I decided to use were browns and warm yellows to reflect the stereotypical colours of a lion however to show a contrast between the other masks being created as she needed to stand out among the other lions, as she was a main character.
