THE STORY PLAYSCRIPT.

The Lion and the Mouse

Characters: The Narrator, Lion, Mouse and Elehant.

(Stage Directions: All the animal characters are wearing the animal masks. The

narrator can be placed on the right or the left of the stage.)

Narrator :The lion was a powerful beast and feared by all the animals in the

Jungle. His power was as frightening as his roar.

(Lion gives a powerful roar.)

Lion : It is a hot day. Ill rest now and hunt when it is cooler.

( Lion puts head on hands and closes ees. !e breathes rhthicall)

Narrator :Suddenly a little mouse ran over his paw.

("ouse comes scampering out #uickl and touches the Lion$s paw.)

Narrator :The lion woke up with a loud roar. He grabbed the mouse with his paw

and said !Lion wakes up and grabs the mouse.)

Lion :Im going to kill you and eat you up. (Lion roars loudl.)

Mouse : "h great lion# good lion# kind lion# please let me go. $lease dont eat me.

If you let me go# then one day I will do a big favour for you.

Lion :Ha# Ha# Ha% &ou# help me% 'ont make me laugh# but Im not that hungry so

I will let you go.

(Lion pushes the mouse awa.)

Narrator :The lion laughed and laughed and the mouse ran home. ( few days later

the lion was out in the )ungle. Suddenly the lion got caught in a net trap

and said (!e is in the centre of stage when he falls to his knees.)

Lion :"h dear# how will I get out of here* +et me out of here.

(Lion looks around the stage desperatel.)

Narrator :(fter a while he an elephant.

Lion :,lephant# elephant# please help me.

Elehants :"h -o% I could not not help you.

(%lephants trundle off back to the other animals.)

Narrator :The lion grew cold and hungry (the lion shivers and rubs his

stomach)and began to think he would never get home to his nice# warm

cage.

Narrator :(s night came the lion began to cry.

Lion :Hoo hoo# I am stuck in this trap and none of my friends will help me.

Narrator :The lion was very sad. (Lion starts cring.)He didnt know what to do.

Then he heard the sueaking of a mouse.

Mouse :Sueak# sueak% /hy are you crying 0r. 1ion* !"ouse comes from

behind of the tree. And do the mirrors techni#ues. "ouse and lion facing

each other. "ouse duplicates the lion$s movements e&actl 'ust as a mirror

would.)

Lion :Im stuck in this trap and nobody will help me.

Mouse :I will help you.I havent forgotten the promise I made to you that day.

Narrator :The mouse began to bite through the net and at last the lion was free.

Lion :Im free# Im free% I never thought you could help me because you are too

small.

Mouse : &ou are free now. (few days ago you laughed thinking that I couldnt

'o something for you in return for what you did for me. -ow it is time

That you know that little mice are grateful and keep their promise.

Lion : I am so sorry my friend. Thank you for what you did for me. &ou were

2ight. ,venthough you are small and weak# you can turn out to be a

Helpful friend.

Narrator :3rom then on the lion and the mouse were very good friends. The

lesson of the story is even smaller or weaker can turn out to be helpful.
