Why Gersteltec offersunique opportunity?

Companies are coming with a problem:

« Processing of homogenous thin layers for electronic display in large surface… »

« Adhesion problems and cracks in opticalpackaging… »

« High density interconnect packaging usingepoxy multi-layers in wafer level packaging..»

Gersteltec provides the solution:

« Change the manufacturing process fromspinning to spraying SU-8 and adapt ourformulations »

« Lower CTE (Thermal expansion coefficient) by mixing suitablenanoparticles and aditives (adhesionpromoter) with SU-8 formulation »

« Conductive filler (nano-particles) & additives mixed with SU-8 = adequateadhesion and conductivity between the layers…»

Electrical applications

Use of conductive filler (organic-inorganic ) with specific nature, shape, concentration for a wide range of conductivity (dielectric to conductor), eg:

Electrodes based on photosensitive silver/SU-8 composite (GCM3060) for spin-coating and screen printing techniques

New CNTs/SU-8 photosensitive composite

Dielectric thin film (display application) based on photosensitive ceramic/SU-8 composite (GLM2060) for spin coating and spray coating

MEMS electrostatic micro gripper (by proton beam / electrodes (by UV lithography)

Page 17: Linkedin Gersteltec A

Mechanical/Tribological applications

Use of adequate filler (organic-inorganic) with specific nature, shape, concentration to enhance the mechanical properties of the SU-8 matrix, eg. Ceramic/SU-8 composite (GLM2060) and new CNTs/SU-8 composite:

Low internal stress: low CTE of 28 instead of 52 ppm/ K (for pure SU-8)

Low friction coefficient: 0.05 instead of 0.5 (for pure SU-8, POM Balls/2N)

Flexible, resistant (membrane)

High modulus

High aspect ratio structures by laser fabrication (low stress) -GLM2060

Composite gear by UV lithography (tribology) –GLM2060

New CNTs/SU-8 photosensitive composite structure by UV lithography

Smart Packages

Use of SU-8 as an adhesive in wafer bonding is a valuable method to create stable and reliable packages:

Protects micro devices from the environment while still allowing them to perform therir function/interaction with the environment Su-8 can be ideally applied to transparent packages

Advantages of SU-8: Gasket patterns can be easily defined in SU-8 via a basic mask alignerapplication: Sealing gaskets to place a transparent cap over the devices at wafer scale Low temperature bonding process (less that 150 C) makes SU-8 easily compatible to package any CMOS devices Upon curing, SU-8 is impervious to any solvents/chemistry, which makes it an effective protection for any mechanical/optical device.
