Lindsay Lohan jewelry theft

In February 2011

Page 15: lindsay lohan theft

Lindsay Lohan tried on several pieces of pricey jewelry before ducking out of a Los Angeles gem shop still wearing a $2,500 necklace she hadn't paid for – but not because she didn't have the money.

The star reportedly flashed $3,000 in cash while haggling over a $3,600 ring before she walked out wearing a yellow-diamond necklace – an alleged heist that landed her in court Tuesday on felony grand theft charges.

The store visit play-by-play and more details of the alleged jewel theft are laid out in a police report filed by the owner of the Kamofie & Co. shop and obtained by TMZ.com.

Lohan allegedly plunked her own necklaces on a countertop before trying on numerous neck baubles and a $3,600 ring.

"Ms. Lohan then proceeds to try on numerous rings and three different necklaces including the missing yellow diamond necklace," the report reads.

FULL STORY

Page 16: lindsay lohan theft

The troubled star apparently tried to bargain with the shop owner – offering the $3,000 wad for the ring, but the merchant refused.

Lohan later allegedly replaced her own necklaces while still wearing the $2,500 yellow-diamond necklace and left the shop – and the entire incident is apparently captured on surveillance tape.

Earlier excerpts of the police report posted on TMZ seemed to point out inconsistencies in the shop owner's statements that might work in Lohan's favor.

According to the gossip site, Kamofie & Co.'s owner first told police Lohan had been in the store looking at the necklace at least three times before Jan. 22, the day of the alleged theft.

The next day, the owner changed her story, saying the actress had actually been looking at a ring during her previous visits – not the necklace.

The owner's earlier accounts to police of the shop's surveillance video seemed to have Lohan removing the necklace and placing it in her Chanel bag – not leaving with it still on her neck.

In a third day of talking to police, the shop owner relayed a story that aligns with the most recent TMZ post detailing surveillance footage.

Another incident that could help the actress' case occurred four days before the alleged necklace swipe.

On Jan. 18, Lohan tried on a pair of 18-karat gold white-diamond earrings at the jewelry store, according to the police report. After removing one earring, the actress allegedly left the other in her ear while she continued shopping.

"Ms. Lohan gathered her things and started to leave the jewelry store without making a purchase," the report states. "Ms. Lohan's hair was flipped to one side covering the diamond earring."

After a store employee reminded the actress she was still wearing the earring, Lohanreportedly laughed and admitted her mistake before handing the jewelry back. Ironically, the actress had carelessly left her own pricier earrings on the counter when she was about to leave the store.

Conclusion

According to TMZ, those close to Lohan paint the actress as a "scatterbrain.

She was freed after posting $40,000 bail and is due back in court on Feb. 23. She faces up to 3 1/2 years in prison if convicted of the jewelry theft.

Because of the lots of stress and she was addicted in drug and alcohol her mind was distracted and she don’t know what she doing in present and what she done in her past life.
