HONOR SOCIETY
In the spring of '48.
the College faculty, for thefirst time in the school'shistory voted to hold anhonors convocation honoringthose students who hadachieved an crfcrage of 3.5for one and one-half se-ffiesters. This convocationwas held on October 12.1948. Jean Boone, Nancy Mc-Cullough. Catherine Lessman.Conway Spanton. and DaleAwick were the students
h<aiored. In February, a din-ner was given for thesestudents. Dale Awick waaelected president. JeanBoone, secretary. ConwaySpanton was appointed towrite the constitution, andDavid Stevenson was namedfaculty advisor. April 26.the first convocation by thenew society was held. Pat-ricia Kodatt, Clifford Brad-ley, and Don Whitnah wereinducted. The society plansto affiliate with Phi ThetaKappa, a national JuniorCollege Honor Fraternity.

the Theatre Guild produc-tions are strictly oaateurs,

The activity under the
direction of Sidney Straighthas put on to date such pro-ductions as "Joan of Arc","Submerged". "SuppressedDesires", and "Cracked Ice."

The most notable accomplishments of the '48- '49 Lynx cagers were theirupset victory over the strong Springfield Junior College team which broketheir unbeaten streak that extended well into last season, and their rousingtriumph over their crosstown rivals, thft L.B.I, preachers, in the final matchbetween the two. Both were tough ball games and provided many thrills for the
fans.
Standouts of the year were Harold Clark, sharpshooting forward, and NormPauske, veteran guard.
As the smallest members of the Illinois-Missouri conference, the Lynxmanaged to win the fourth spot in the final standing by taking four gameswhile dropping six, two by less than two points.
