LINCOLN ALEXANDER PUBLIC SCHOOL EBULLETIN FOR THE WEEK OF DECEMBER 12, 2016 www.lincolnalexander.ps.yrdsb.ca It was wonderful to see so many people at Lincoln Alexander Public School over the course of a week! We had successful events all week along: a fantastic Movie Night, a very productive School Council meeting, and three lively holiday con- certs! Thank you for continuing to support your children in a variety of school related activities. There is nothing that compares to the expression on our students faces as they catch the eye of their parents in the audience on concert night! We also want to thank everyone for the generosity shown in dona- tions of new toys, hats and mittens. Donations continue to be received next week. Best Weekend Wishes! NEXT WEEK MONDAYDay 1 TUESDAY-Day 2 WEDNESDAY-Day 3 THURSDAY-Day 4 FRIDAY-Day 5 School Council is looking at offering a pizza lunch option every Friday beginning in JANUARY 2017. French Immersion Information Sessions and Registrations Information sessions for the French Immersion (FI) program will take place at French Immersion schools on January 19, 2017 at 7 p.m. For Lincoln Alexander Public School students this location will be Sir John A. MacDonald . FI registration will begin January 20, 2017. Parents or guardians of Senior Kindergarten students entering Grade 1 in 2017, and wishing to enroll in the FI Program, can visit or call the school office and request an Office Index Card - short version. The Office Index Card must be signed by the principal of the home school. Parents or guardians then take this form, along with one piece of identification showing their address to the des-ignated FI program location to register between January 20 and February 10, 2017. This eliminates the need to provide duplicate enrollment information or to pre-register. YRDSB’s FI Accommodation Plan provides long-term consistency and equity of access to all students in York Region and will enable YRDSB to continue to offer the FI program to all who wish to enrol. The FI program will be offered in Dual Track or Single Track settings, in a variety of configurations. In order to meet community needs and optimize available space in our schools, a community's Grade 1-8 FI program may be provided over more than one school during the course of a student's FI education. This will allow flexi-bility in addressing community needs and the opportunity to use existing space in schools. More information is available on the Board’s website: www.yrdsb.ca. Please note: Some of the FI accommodation plans will require facility modifications or the develop-ment of new schools and will require short-term transition plans that might include overflow while we work toward the long-term vi-sion. Overflow refers to situations in which the Board directs students to attend a school other than their community school or op-tional program for a specific period of time, as defined in Policy #108.

May 1

Dear Parents/Guardians, The holiday season is almost upon us, and L.A.P.S “Me to We Team” has proudly partnered with CTV News to be a part of the Toy Mountain event in one of our local community centers. This year’s event will be held on December 12th 2016 at the North Thornhill Community Centre, and it will air live on CTV Toronto’s News at 6 pm. Lincoln Alexander Public School’s Toy donation drive will run from now until to Monday December 12th 2016. We are hoping to collect as many items as possible to support chil-dren and families in need during this holiday season. Please help us by donating a new unwrapped toy. Thank you in advance for your ongoing support with all of our initiatives.

School Council News Thank you to all the parents and students who came out to the Movie Night last Friday! We had a great turn out, and everyone had a great time!

We will be starting up Sub lunches on Tuesdays again, in January. Look for details to come home next week!

We are hosting our Winter Holiday Hot Chocolate Send-off on December 23rd. We are in need of 25+ volunteers to help us distribute the hot chocolate to all the classes starting in the morning. Please email [email protected] if you are available, even if it is a

short period of time! The students will appreciate the warm delicious hot chocolate on their last day before the holiday break.
