Randu Meadows and Bird Watchtower. A section of the Vidzeme seashore from Ainaži to Kuiviži. The only seaside meadows in Latvia, including rare plant species. An internationally recognised location for bird migration and nesting. Nature trail length – 1.5 km. 10. Pietrags (The Red) cliffs. A steep sandstone bank around 10 m high and over 400 m long. One of the most beautiful sandstone detritions on the banks of the Salaca River. 17. Braslava Park. At 12.8 ha, it is a historical and architecture monument of national significance. An interesting site-seeing object, which was located at the top of the steep shore approximately ten years ago, but currently has settled to the sea level. Rocky Vidzeme Coast. 14 km-long nature reserve from Tūja to Dzeņi, where the beach is bordered by a steep bank with caves and niches and several capes of land reach out into the sea. 53. The magnificent church was constructed in 1900 to 1903 in the Neo-Byzantine style according to a three section design. It was formed in the territory of Livonian period monastery. Located at the intersection of Dailes Street and Cēsu Street. The bronze monument was unveiled in 1998 (by sculptors Z. Rapa and J. Rapa). 63. Gildes (Guild) Street. Formed in the 14th century. Lined with buildings at the end of the 18th century and in the 19th century. The house where clairvoyant Eugene Finks once lived is located on this street. 64. Mūra (Masonry) Street. The ruins of the former city fortification walls can be viewed on this street. 65. Vienības (Unity) Park. Located between Rīgas and Parka Streets. Opened in 1892. A platform was once located here and theatre performances given. Sculptures presented to the city by sculptor K. Baumanis are displayed in the park. Jūras (Lutheran Parish) Street Cemetery. Monument to composer Kārlis Baumanis (by sculptor G. Šķilters, 1920). Here, three holders of the Lāčplēsis Order are buried – Vilis Gelbe, Eduards Grantskalns and Fricis Cēlējs. 67. Kārlis Baumanis (The Old-Town) Square. The square and a network of streets formed in the medieval period. The Limbaži Community House is located here (constructed in 1850). 68. Pils (Castle) Street. A forge owned by blacksmith I. Šķilters was located here at the beginning of the 20th century. His artistic forgings are still present on the facades of previously constructed houses. 69. Limbaži Lakeshore of Lielezers. From June it is a facilitated beach, a children’s playground, offers boat and water cycle rental, sports grounds and a pontoon dock. 70. Nature Trail of Lielezers Lake. Created in the North-East part of Lielezers Lake in Limbaži. The trail is 3.6 km in length. A bird watchtower is constructed at the North part of the lake. A children’s playground, facilitated recreation areas and boat docking are available. 71. The Old Fire-fighter’s Depot.The building was constructed in the second half of the 19th century in forms characteristic to the historisme period, including the brick style. The original stairs have been preserved in all storeys of the tower, but with a considerable steepness. The comparatively hard climb and the glazed floors exaggerate the extreme sensations. 1. North Breakwater. A witness to the Ainaži Harbour activity launch at the beginning of the 20th century, near the Estonian border.

impressive sight on the side of the “VIA Baltic” road – the �rst wind power station in the Baltic States, which is one of the new era identi�cation marks of Ainaži.

8. Latvian – Estonian Border. If travellers have their passport along, they can shop at Ikla’s small shop and seek adventures in Estonia along the old Tallinn highway.

9. Randu Meadows and Bird Watchtower. A section of the Vidzeme seashore from Ainaži to Kuiviži. The only seaside meadows in Latvia, including rare plant species. An internationally recognised location for bird migration and nesting. Nature trail length – 1.5 km.

10. Pietrags (The Red) cli�s. A steep sandstone bank around 10 m high and over 400 m long. One of the most beautiful sandstone detritions on the banks of the Salaca River.

17. Braslava Park. At 12.8 ha, it is a historical and architecture monument of national signi�cance. The territory is valuable for its long period of formation and maintenance, as well as its territory that enriches the overall parish landscape.

18. Vilzēni Manor House, Stork Rookery. A total of over 50 houses located in the parish territory near the manor house are locations where storks make their nests. Braslava parish territory houses the second largest stork rookery in Latvia.

33. Staicele Wooden Construction Site. Began to form in 1893 as a workers’ city related to the construction of “The Baltic Paper and Cardboard Factory”. Best examples of the city’s ancient wooden constructions (end of the 19th century/ beginning of the 20th century) – Lielā Street 8, 9, 31, 33.

34. Monument to Vidzeme’s Livs. A stone boat with a bird. Unveiled in July 2004 in the city centre (by Z. Rapa and J. Rapa) – a sculpture and landmark for Latvians, Livs and Estonians.

35. Rozēni - Staicele Evangelical Lutheran Church. The church was constructed in 1930. Staicele, Kalēju Street.

36. Planči Swamp Nature Trail. A nature trail for eco-tourists along the swamp, where one can enjoy an entire symphony of colours and sounds. Information about the nature objects is also available in Braille.

37. Vīksnu Caves. Located on the right bank of the Salaca river, 3.5 km from the Staicele bridge, in the Vīksnu cli�s. Also called the Fisherman or Vīksnu Caves. The caves are 36 m (total length 24 + 8 + 4) and 20 m (total length) long.

38. New. “Jaunminkiņi” Farm. There are 40 bee hives in the household. You are welcome to visit the household and everything it has to o�er, including experiencing apitherapy – the consumption of bee products for retaining good health as well as for treating di�erent illnesses. 42. Salaca Castle Mound. In 1226, the Castle of Riga’s Bishop Albert was erected here and controlled the access to Salaca reservoir from the sea. The castle su�ered damaged several times, until it was completely destroyed at the beginning of the 18th century. The stones of the ruined castle were used in the church fence wall, leaving only the ground embankments as current evidence of the castle.

43. St. Maria Goretti Catholic Church. Constructed in 1997 (by architect D. Straubergs), sacral music concerts are held in the church. The cross of the altar and the statue of Christ was created by sculptor Janis Bārda. The wall mosaics “Maria Goretti” and "Vaclava Bridge" are the work of Academy of Arts Master Mairita Folkmane. 51. Old Kurmrags Lighthouse. An interesting site-seeing object, which was located at the top of the steep shore approximately ten years ago, but currently has settled to the sea level. Rock piles have formed here as a result of wave interaction and ice forming ridges.

52. Rocky Vidzeme Coast. 14 km-long nature reserve from Tūja to Dzeņi, where the beach is bordered by a steep bank with caves and niches and several capes of land reach out into the sea.

53. Veczemes Red Cli�s. 200 m long and 4 m high sandstone detritions with grottos and caves; the most exuberant red sandstone detritions along the Latvian coast. Tel.: +371 29464686

54. Liepupe Lutheran Church. Constructed in 1783, burnt down in 1971. The wooden interior of the renovated church was created by the students of the Riga School of Arts and Crafts. The ruins of the old church and pastor’s manor house are located next to the chur. Tel.: +371 28671264

55. Munchausen’s Museum and Forrest Trail. Materials about Munchausen’s adventures in Dunte can be viewed in the exhibition, as can household tools of the 18th century and the exhibition of wax �gures “Outstanding People in the History of Latvia”. A romantic “Munchausen’s Forrest Trail” extends from the castle to the sea (5.3 km) – the longest aspen tree footbridge trail in Europe. New. The largest wooden amusement ship in the Baltic States is located in the territory of the museum. The ship is 30 m long and 4.5 meters wide; the mast with Munchausen’s �ag waving high is 15 m high. 59. Limbaži Evangelical Lutheran Church. The masonry church was constructed in 1679 to 1680, according to building master R. Bindenšu’s design for the funding of the Riga City Council. The building su�ered �res several times. The interior of the church houses art works of di�erent styles – pulpit-altar, pulpit, etc. Open for visitors seaso- nally (May - September) every day. 60. Catholic Church. Constructed in 1996 (by architects I. Jekale and D. Straubergs). The �rst Catholic Church in Latvia, erected after the renovation of independence. K. Barona Street, Tel.: +37129340272.

61. Trans�guration of Christ Orthodox Church. The magni�cent church was constructed in 1900 to 1903 in the Neo-Byzantine style according to a three section design. 62. Monument to Composer and Author of the Latvia National Anthem Kārlis Baumanis. Located at the intersection of Dailes Street and Cēsu Street. The bronze monument was unveiled in 1998 (by sculptors Z. Rapa and J. Rapa).

63. Gildes (Guild) Street. Formed in the 14th century. Lined with buildings at the end of the 18th century and in the 19th century. The house where clairvoyant Eugene Finks once lived is located on this street.

64. Mūra (Masonry) Street. The ruins of the former city forti�cation walls can be viewed on this street.

65. Vienības (Unity) Park. Located between Rīgas and Parka Streets. Opened in 1892. A platform was once located here and theatre performances given. Sculptures presented to the city by sculptor K. Baumanis are displayed in the park. The Theatre House is also located here, home of the Auseklis Limbaži Folk Theatre. The statue “Kissers” is dis- played the Theatre House (by sculptor O. Šilova).

66. Jūras (Lutheran Parish) Street Cemetery. Monument to composer Kārlis Baumanis (by sculptor G. Šķilters, 1920). Here, three holders of the Lāčplēsis Order are buried – Vilis Gelbe, Eduards Grantskalns and Fricis Cēlējs.

67. Kārlis Baumanis (The Old-Town) Square. The square and a network of streets formed in the medieval period. The Limbaži Community House is located here (constructed in 1850).

68. Pils (Castle) Street. A forge owned by blacksmith I. Šķilters was located here at the beginning of the 20th century. His artistic forgings are still present on the facades of previously constructed houses.

69. Limbaži Lakeshore of Lielezers. From June it is a facilitated beach, a children’s playground, o�ers boat and water cycle rental, sports grounds and a pontoon dock.

70. Nature Trail of Lielezers Lake. Created in the North-East part of Lielezers Lake in Limbaži. The trail is 3.6 km in length. A bird watchtower is constructed at the North part of the lake. A children’s playground, facilitated recreation areas and boat docking are available.

71. The Old Fire-�ghter’s Depot.The building was constructed in the second half of the 19th century in forms characteristic to the historisme period, including the brick style. The original stairs have been preserved in all storeys of the tower, but with a considerable steepness. The comparatively hard climb and the glazed �oors exaggerate the extreme sensations. 58. Limbaži Medieval Castle Ruins and Panorama Tower. The construction of the castle was started in the �rst half of the 13th century. From the 15th to the 16th century it had been the residence of Riga’s archbishop. The castle was destroyed during the wars in the 17th and the 18th centuries. Renovation works of the castle ruins were started in 1999. The panorama tower was constructed instead of the castle “gate tower”. A spring �ows down the castle mound on the North hillside. 72. Wall Paintings in the “Old-Town Hall”. The building was constructed in the second half of the 18th century and was owned by the merchant Braunschweig. In the middle of the 19th century, it was bought by the Limbaži City Council. 88. Augstrozes Castle Mound. Ruins of the 13th century surrounded by legends and tales have remained at the castle mound. A walking trail has been created at the castle mound.

89. Augstrozes Evangelical – Lutheran Church. The church was constructed in 1789. Its altar was later moved to the masonry church constructed in 1859. In 1968, the church was closed and turned into a grain warehouse. Augstrozes’ parish renewed its activity in 1991.
