The Dorchester Habitat for Humanity ReStore in Summerville, South Carolina sells new and gently used building materials, appliances and furniture at discount prices to help fund the building of homes for Habitat for Humanity partner families in the local community. The expansive showroom of the Dorches-ter ReStore was lit by a system of 400-watt metal halide high bay fixtures suspended from the 20-foot ceiling. Not only were the metal halide high bays expensive to operate and maintain, they produced shadows and glare that made the facility and merchandise look less appealing to customers. The ReStore needed a lighting solution that would save energy while bright-ening up the entire space.

Working with independent MaxLite sales representative Dan-iel Hancock of SuperGreen Solutions, the Dorchester ReStore replaced the metal halides with MaxLite LED Acrylic High Bay Pendants. Twenty-seven of the 120-watt LED pendants were installed in a one-to-one retrofit of the showroom. Blending high performance with a premium aesthetic, the pendants feature cutting-edge optics and a durable acrylic reflector that deliver high vertical footcandles with minimal glare.
