UC Santa Barbara Case Study

As part of a lighting demonstration, the University of California, Santa Barbara worked with the California Lighting Technology Center (CLTC) to install energy-efficient EverLast® Induction Bi-Level luminaires with wireless integrated photo- and motion- sensor controls on the second level of Lot 18 parking structure The lighting demonstration was sponsored by the California Energy Commission’s Public Interest Energy Research Program (PIER) to show how combining energy-efficient lighting technologies with SMART sensor controls can reduce energy and save money

According to California Energy Commission’s PIER, the average commercial building in California spends about 35% of its total electrical use on lighting systems Lighting control systems are broadly acknowledged as offering large, near-term opportunities for energy savings

By replacing 150w high pressure sodium canopy luminaires with EverLast® 70w induction bi-level garage luminaires, UC Santa Barbara has reduced energy demand by 900w and produces an annual energy savings of 12,790 kWh

Bi-Level Dimming

The EverLast® variable dimming technology can work in conjunction with both new and existing low voltage control systems Variable dimming is an attractive solution for many indoor applications because fixtures can be dimmed to various intensity levels based on application, resulting in reduced energy consumption and lowered energy costs

Lighting is a significant operating expense for Cobo Convention Center in Detroit, Michigan, home to the North American International Auto Show Exhibition areas are currently illuminated by more than 3,000 inefficient 400w metal halide high bays, with annual energy and maintenance costs pushing $460,000

With the help of SmartBuilding funding, the regional authority that manages Cobo Center is planning a $21 million energy saving construction program, which will include lighting, roofing and insulation upgrades After accepting bids for nearly a year, Cobo’s key decision-makers selected EverLast® Lighting to fulfill their need for energy-efficient lighting By August 2011 Cobo Hall will have replaced 3,000 400w metal halide high bays with 250w EverLast® Induction aluminum high bays

Cobo Center and EverLast® engineering teams partnered to develop a solution that worked in conjunction with the center’s existing Johnson Controls system Installing variable dimming high bays will enable, the facility engineers to set the lights to show low, show high, and maximum mode depending on the needs for a specific tradeshow The center will save an estimated $340,000 annually on energy and expected maintenance costs, resulting in an approximate $5 million total lifetime savings

About Us

EverLast® Lighting, LLC is a sister company of Full Spectrum Solutions, Inc., which was founded in 1997 and has quickly grown into the leading manufacturer of energy-efficient lighting solutions for roadway, parking structure, facility and area lighting applications. How EverLast® Induction Lighting Works

EverLast® Induction technology is a fluorescent lamp without electrodes In this advanced technology the lamp relies on a magnetic induction to ignite the phosphors rather than electrodes, which are the components that burn out in a linear lamp, resulting in frequent replacement Since these lamps do not have any components that can burn out, induction lamps are rated at 100,000 hours, lasting longer than 100 incandescent, 5 HID, or 5 typical fluorescent lamp changes
