The ChallengeThe Seafood Pub Company wanted to give The Fleece in

Addingham a new lease of life after its enforced closure.

They wanted to incorporate a mixture of old and new, with a

traditional Yorkshire bar being complemented by a first-floor Gin

and Champagne bar and contemporary function and dining

rooms.

The team at Chantelle Lighting have worked closely with the

Seafood Pub Company on the lighting design for many of

their sites in Lancashire and understood that while they like

to incorporate some signature SPC finishing touches into their

venues, they must sit alongside design features unique to the

venue, its location and its clientele.

The Fleece is a characterful venue with breath-taking high

beams, traditional stone fittings and bronze bars and it was

important that the new lighting complemented these features

whilst helping to create a warm ambience and atmospheric

cavern of intimate and social spaces.

The SolutionChantelle Lighting managing director, Anthony Holly said:

“We’ve worked with the Seafood Pub Company on a number

of projects over the past few years and so had a good

understanding of what they wanted the lighting to look and

feel like. We recommended a range of different light fittings to

work together and create a warm, cosy feel for drinkers and

diners alike.

“This included using industrial themed bronze pendants and

wall lights on the ground floor, to contrast perfectly with the

stone walls and wooden beams and create a welcoming

atmosphere.

“Complementing teal seating and grey panelling in the main

dining area, industrial wall lights were paired with reclaimed

pendants above the tables. This contrast of textures and colours

produces a warm and inviting feel for diners.

“Upstairs in The Fleece, the lighting takes on a rural Yorkshire feel with antler chandeliers and wall lights helping to create a stunning look and talking point in the private function room. In the Gin and Champagne bar they are combined with bronze pendants for a rustic effect.”

The ResultThe Fleece is the heartbeat of the community in Addingham

and its reopening has been met by rave reviews from

customers, local businesses and the local media. Anthony

added:

“The lighting chosen for The Fleece combines perfectly with

the soft furnishings and original features in the grade-two

listed building to create a warm, homely feel throughout. The

combination of industrial fittings with the antler pieces work

brilliantly together and have helped to once again bring The

Fleece to life.”
