Light Up Letter

Spring is once again in the air here in Winona, meaning that another winter has come and gone and another year of Light Up Winona is complete. This past year marked the third year of our existence and another successful year of lighting up Lake Lodge. We were delighted to have Mayor Mark Peterson on hand to throw the switch at our annual lighting ceremony at Lake Lodge this past December. The turnout was impressive despite the inclement weather. This past year we expanded our project to include a small display in Central Park along Broadway. We are also pleased to report that our project has inspired other groups to begin lighting projects of their own. The Winona Public Library added seasonal lights to its façade, just another step in brightening our community during the long, dark evenings of winter. Now in our fourth year, Light Up Winona is poised to take the next step as we continue to expand the scope of our project and engage more of the Winona community. Having successfully established our pilot site at Lake Lodge, we are eager and inspired to transform Central Park with a full seasonal display. However, we cannot and do not wish to accomplish this alone. In keeping with our founding vision, we seek to galvanize broad community support, bringing together a cross-section of local Chamber businesses and organizations to make Light Up Winona a truly community oriented and community driven project. We have an exciting expansion planned for 2014 and we need your support! We have set a fund- raising goal of $15,000 for 2014 and our intent is to develop a seasonal display in Central Park consisting of lighted trees and statuary. Please see attached mock-up for our proposed plan. This display will be clearly visible along Broadway, most notably at the high traffic intersection of Broadway and Main Street, one of the busiest gateways to downtown Winona. We warmly invite you and other Chamber businesses along with community organizations to join with us in supporting this project through a generous tax deductible donation in the amount of your choosing. We know that through broad community collaboration we can achieve great things for Winona and that together we can make this endeavor an ever brighter reality, now and in the years to come. We thank you for your consideration and sincerely hope that you will join with us and your fellow Chamber and community members to Light Up Winona. Thank You! Dear Community Partner
