Light and Life to All He Brings

Prince, Alan Rickman… It seems
to have been a particularly bad
year for celebrity funerals and, as
I write this, it’s not yet
November.
People have speculated about
why the grim reaper is paying a
visit to so many stars in 2016. Is it
a blip? Are there just more
celebrities than there used to be?
Is the status of “famous person”
being bestowed on individuals
did Jesus come at Christmas? To
deal death a crushing blow and to
bring life. “I came that they may
have life, and have it abundantly”
he said (John 10.10). And “Only as
a human being could he die, and
only by dying could he break the
power of death” said one of his
first followers (Hebrews 2.14).

overlooked as nothing special?
Whatever the case, the reality is
that the death rate remains the
same as ever; 100%, and life is
short. For all who die having
rejected Jesus Christ, this world is
as good as it gets. But for anyone
who dies knowing Jesus Christ,
this is as bad as it gets - the best is
yet to come.
As we journey into winter now
with darkening days, bleaker skies,
leafless trees and colder winds,
we can lift our eyes though. Why
