Speed School of Engineering has been one of the top choices in the country for engineering graduates. By combining on-the-job training through a mandatory co-op program and a thorough classroom curriculum, J.B. Speed School of Engineering is a leader in engineering education. Co-op is an ACCE accredited academic program integrating classroom learning with work experience in the student’s field of study. Students normally co-op with the same employer for three alternating semesters beginning in their fifth semester of study. Upon the completion of their undergraduate degree, students have a full year of professional work experience. The employer’s role is to: provide a full-time paid position that is relevant to the student’s career, mentor the student, and evaluate the student’s performance. In return, companies have access to motivated, productive engineers who can perform entry-level engineering tasks and free experienced personnel to work on higher priorities.
