FIRE EXTINGUISHERS

LOCATION:•Each Procedure Room•Hallway –Double Doors

PASS It's easy to remember how to use a fire extinguisher if you can remember the acronym PASS, which stands for Pull, Aim, Squeeze, and Sweep. This will allow you to discharge the extinguisher:Pull, Aim, Squeeze, and Sweep

FIRE ALARM

• “Code Red please report to the Front Office”• Close all doors• Clear the corridors• Await further instruction• Evacuate only if told to do so by the Director of

Clinical Operations or designee

COMMAND POST• The Command Post is

located in the Front Office• The alternate Command Post

is the Lounge or as needed• The Director of Clinical

Operations or designee will report to the Command Post

EVACUATIONIf evacuation of patients is

necessary:• Discharged to home if possible• All staff, physicians, patients,

visitors, etc. will exit through:• Front door • Double doors • Rear door of the facility

FIRE/FIRE DRILL IS OVER

• The fire alarm stops sounding• The strobe lights stop flashing• “Code Red all clear. All Staff,

patients and visitors may move freely throughout the facility.”

DISASTER

• “Code Triage please report to the Front Office.”

• Await further instructions• Disaster is over when you hear “Code Triage all clear. All staff,

patients and visitors may move freely throughout the Facility.”

EMERGENCY • External and Internal Panic buttons

– The External Button notifies Rutgers Police of an emergency at the Center. These are located:

• Under counter in Front Office• Recovery Room next to Soiled Utility entrance• ESWL Suites • Cysto Room

– The Internal Panic Button notifies the Staff of an emergency within the Center. It is located:

• Under the Front Office counter

FYI• Rutgers Police responds to fires, emergencies at The

Stone Center• The Newark Fire Department responds to any fires at The

Stone Center• When the external panic button is pushed Rutgers Police will

respond to The Stone Center• At the entrance doors there is a camera to monitor and “buzz” in

all visitors. • All phones are pre programmed with Police/Fire number• The Stone Center has its own Security System • There are fire alarm pull boxes by the front door, double doors

and rear door in The Stone Center
