Formed in 1993, by a small group of art and design slide librarians To highlight and establish important visual resources roles in the higher

education sector Grown to include institutions from Teeside to Falmouth

Project background

JISC Digitisation Conference report in 2007 identified key areas for the

future of the digitisation community:

1. An emphasis on user engagement

2. Create a connected mass of digitised content

3. Develop business models

4. Promote sustainability

5. Promote collaboration

6. High quality content for the education sector

With an investment of £2.1 million, JISC funded 11 projects in 2009, as part of

their e-content programme, one of which is VADS- Look Here!
