Each year, goes faster than the one before, and it seems like each month and each week are the same, well some weeks never ended for me this year, I spent many a weekend in front of this screen. As you are all aware, for the past two and a half years, I have been working as Foundation Legal Advisor at COC and Haven Foundations. I love my job but this year has been very challenging, I love being able to serve so many people in Thailand at work and outside of work. The funny thing is that; apart, a stamp in a work permit or passport, my work has little reward, but for our volunteers the stresses and work that goes into it, it is invaluable to have another year in Thailand to make an impact and serve the Thai people. But seriously, that is ALL my life has been about forever, as a helpdesk worker answer the phone, fix the problem, make a statistic (and a happy customer), and same here, do whatever to make the immigration officer put that little stamp in the passport (and a happy volunteer). Impact! Do I make an impact? As I reflect, and as I have mentioned a few times already in other correspondences. That sometimes I feel like, I don’t do much at all, and I would like to be doing more. Actually, changing lives would be great and knowing it’s happening, whilst I am sitting in my office, really divides my heart. I have asked for encouragement and prayer a few times this year, but saying that, I have received amazing giftings to do exactly what I am doing, so way in the back of my mind, I know this is my calling! 2015 - It’s nearly two-thirds gone - where has it gone? From Life in a Northern Town My name is Shayne Rochfort and I am a servant of God, volunteering in Chiang Mai, Thailand. I am the Legal Advisor at Christian Outreach Centre Thailand (COC) and The Haven Project. I am helping coordinate visas and work permits and the whole work in local churches and communities all over Thailand. My main role involves everything and anything, STILL. Please consider partnering with me, building God’s kingdom in Thailand. My life is administration and reporting, mixed in with a bit of emailing, correspondence and explanation. I also do a lot of emailing and explanation about reporting. Unfortunately, the Thai government, require our Foundation volunteers to satisfactorily justify their requirements and responsibilities to stay in Thailand for extended periods of time. I wrote a report for the COC Foundation and the Haven Foundation, normally these are just for the Government Departments, but you can also have a bit of a look also about what the foundations have been doing this year. They are fairly big files, but you will get a well rounded overview of the whole work around Thailand, but for more information about our partners read on. I may have mentioned many times about my role, but I have never really talked about what our Foundation people do, so here goes… I think the simplest and easiest ways is through their own “public” pages from around the internet and Facebook. So on the next page, there is a list of many of the organisations, groups, children’s homes and people that come under the COC or Haven Foundations. I am very privileged to be connected with what these guys are doing. Reports, oh how we love reports! The people of Chiang Mai are truly incredible and I have been very fortunate to meet so many awesome friends. Work and play in 2015 has been full steam ahead and full on. Shayne in Thailand Praise be to the God and Father of our Lord Jesus Christ, the Father of compassion and the God of all comfort, who comforts us in all our troubles, so that we can comfort those in any trouble with the comfort we ourselves receive from God. Each year, goes faster than the one before, and it seems like each month and each week are

the same, well some weeks never ended for me this year, I spent many a weekend in front of

this screen.

As you are all aware, for the past two and a half years, I have been working as Foundation

Legal Advisor at COC and Haven Foundations. I love my job but this year has been very

challenging, I love being able to serve so many people in Thailand at work and outside of

work. The funny thing is that; apart, a stamp in a work permit or passport, my

work has little reward, but for our volunteers the stresses and work that goes

into it, it is invaluable to have another year in Thailand to make an impact and

serve the Thai people.

But seriously, that is ALL my life has been about forever, as a helpdesk worker

answer the phone, fix the problem, make a statistic (and a happy customer),

and same here, do whatever to make the immigration officer put that little

stamp in the passport (and a happy volunteer).

Impact! Do I make an impact? As I reflect, and as I have mentioned a few

times already in other correspondences. That sometimes I feel like, I don’t do

much at all, and I would like to be doing more. Actually, changing lives

would be great and knowing it’s happening, whilst I am sitting in my office,

really divides my heart. I have asked for encouragement and prayer a few

times this year, but saying that, I have received amazing giftings to do exactly what I am

doing, so way in the back of my mind, I know this is my calling!

2015 - It’s nearly two-thirds gone - where has it gone?

From Life in a Northern Town

My name is Shayne Rochfort and I am a servant of God, volunteering in Chiang Mai, Thailand.

I am the Legal Advisor at Christian Outreach Centre Thailand (COC) and The Haven Project. I

am helping coordinate visas and work permits and the whole work in local churches and

communities all over Thailand.

My main role involves everything and anything, STILL.

Please consider partnering with me, building God’s kingdom in Thailand.

My life is administration and reporting, mixed in with a bit of emailing, correspondence and

explanation. I also do a lot of emailing and explanation about reporting.

Unfortunately, the Thai government, require our Foundation volunteers to satisfactorily justify their

requirements and responsibilities to stay in Thailand for extended periods of time. I wrote a report

for the COC Foundation and the Haven Foundation, normally these are just for the Government

Departments, but you can also have a bit of a look also about what the foundations have been

doing this year. They are fairly big files, but you will get a well rounded overview of the whole

work around Thailand, but for more information about our partners read on.

I may have mentioned many times about my role, but I have never really talked about what our

Foundation people do, so here goes… I think the simplest and easiest ways is through their own

“public” pages from around the internet and Facebook. So on the next page, there is a list of

many of the organisations, groups, children’s homes and people that come under the COC or

Haven Foundations. I am very privileged to be connected with what these guys are doing.

Reports, oh how we love reports!

The people of Chiang Mai are truly incredible and I have been very fortunate to meet

so many awesome friends. Work and play in 2015 has been full steam ahead and full on.

FOR THOSE OF YOU WHO PRAY:

Praise for God’s blessing on the work of COC Thailand and the Haven Foundation. 2014 Approximately 80 foreign volunteers and currently 160 foreign volunteers and it is my job to try and coordinate their visa and work permit processes. Please pray for my work, it’s growing and it’s fun, but it is busy and challenging. We need another Thai staff member to help with processing of applications and documentation.

Please pray for Thailand. It’s beautiful, but with the current political climate, we are experiencing continual changes to laws and processes.

Please pray for a new venue for our school, we have been able to reconfigure the current building, but really need a brand new facility.
