EventsThe murder of Hamlets fatherKing Claudius lies and deceives everyone about the murder of his brother. It was actually him that did it and then married his brothers wife, but no one other than hamlet knows.

King Claudius sending Hamlet awayThe King lies to Gertrude saying that it would be better for the kingdom if Hamlet left for a while. He assures her Hamlet will be fine and it will work out for the better. In reality, he wants Hamlet gone because he knows too much and he orders that Hamlet be murdered once he leaves.

The play performed by visiting actorsThe play is a deception by Hamlet to find out if the king really did murder his father.

EventsPolonius hiding behind the curtain in Gertrude's chamberKing Claudius gets Polonius to spy on Hamlet and Gertrude for him, because he wants to see what Hamlet tells his mother. This is a deception that does not end well for Polonius.

The battle between Laertes and HamletLaertes and King Claudius deceive everyone and the battle is a ploy to murder Hamlet. The king lies and gives Hamlet poisoned wine while Laertes has a poisoned sword.
