Part 3 Questions 11 – 15 Read the email from your friend Alan. Circle the correct answer A, B or C.
Hi!
I had a fantastic holiday. We didn’t go to Qatar and Oman after all,
but we went to Yemen instead. We hired a car and drove high up into
the mountains. A few roads were closed because of the heavy rain. And
some roads were quite dangerous because animals walk along them!
We stayed in Sana’a, which is a really interesting city, and I bought you
a present in the market. I couldn’t go bowling in the evening because it
was always crowded. Fun City was very busy too so I didn’t go there
either.
But I did climb onto a statue of a horse in the famous central square
and sit there. All the tourists like to have their photo taken doing that!
But like me, they are not so interested in the museums.
I hope we can see one another before school starts again. I’m staying
with my cousins this week, but then I’ll be back home, so email me and
tell me when you’ll be free.

Questions 28 – 32 Read the email from your friend Amy. Circle the correct answer A, B, or C.
Hi!
I am writing to tell you all about my new school. It’s great! It’s not very
large, but we have a computer room and even a school band. I want to
learn to play the drums.
There are some really friendly girls in my class who I chat with in the
cafeteria at break. One of them, Emily, lives quite close to my uncle’s
house on the other side of the park. One of my other friends, Ruth,
walks to school with me in the mornings because she lives in my street.
The teachers give us a lot of homework, but we can stay after school
to do it in the library. We can use the internet to help with our
homework there, but we’re not allowed to take food or drink into the
room with us.
Soon, I’d like to be a member of the school tennis club because I loved
playing tennis at my old school.
Write soon and tell me all your news.
