• Choose Appropriate Place– Quiet, but able to talk– Semi-Private is ideal– Open access to materials, but maybe an
“outer zone” 1st , then target materials
• Stay in touch with Library Staff– Study “traffic flow,” maybe adjust location– Ensure your comfort and safety
Location
• In-Person 1st, Whenever Possible• Best able to assess and address specifics• Learn from the Veteran
• Print Media• Resource Book (Always!), Flyers, Brochures• CalVet Reintegration Form (Paper, if they wish)
• Electronic Media• Go to websites with the veteran• Interact while they are browsing• Print things out as reminders (as supplies are
available)
Expected Access Methods
• Follow Library Policy for Computer/Printer• If Laptop, ensure security protocol in place
• Monitor Print Supplies for Restocking• Check w/Library Staff and/or CalVet for more
• Data Protection• No personal info retained locally on computer• Reintegration Forms, if manually filled out• Make sure veteran takes personal papers with him/her

• Library System will determine which numbers/milestones should be reported for grant support to CA Research Bureau/State Librarian’s Office
• Tallies should be taken when forwarding paper CalVet Reintegration Forms
• CalVet can assist when vets complete online Reintegration Forms
• May want to keep a basic customer clipboard (count of veterans/visit dates)
