The library at MF is one of Norway’s major theological libraries, centrally situated in Oslo. A staff of 4 provides service to its users.The library is part of MF’s Learning Center. Library-services and IT-services are provided here. The staff can offer information skills sessions tailored to students’ needs (introduction to databases; resources on a particular topic and internet search skills).

In the Learning Center there are ca 270 reader seats (including workstations, special reading areas) at the students’ disposal. A wireless network is available.The stationary PCs are located to PC-rooms, desks designated for group-work and separate rooms for group-study. At the library’s reception, there are several PCs for searching. When searching for literature in Oria.no, you automatically get a map

showing where the book is placed. Free access to 140 000 e-books.

CollectionsMain collection Ca 83 000 volumes covering Theology, Christianity, Social Sciences and related disciplines.

Special collections Religious education, Qumran-literature (Dead Sea scrolls) and Hymnals.

Reference-collection Encyclopedias and manuals related to our disciplines.

Media-library Videos, DVDs, music Thesis-collection Collection of MF-students´ theses at Master and Cand.theol. level. Thesis from 2008 at Brage.

The Egede Institute’s collections of books and journals which include ca. 13.500 volumes are integrated with MF´s collections. (www.egede.no)

Lending and instruction The library gives priority to MF students and staff, but we are happy to answer requests from others. When necessary we provide literature from other libraries for our students and staff.

Courses The library offers instruction in Oria and other network resources.

Copying and print Use your student card.

Lending rules Normal lending period is 4 weeks,curriculum literature 1 week,(MF students only). Reference-literature is for library use only. Library cards are issued at the library’s reception for those who do not have a studentcard. For further study of the lending rules, consult the library’s website.

Lockers are available in the library. Apply for lockers at the students intranett. Usernames and passwords for MF´s PCs are issued to students at the student reception on the 2nd floor.
