The job consists in assisting English teachers in their classes and doing conversation classes with small groups of students (their number is usually limited to 12). Assistants have to teach classes for 12 hours a week. This position is offered to students or graduates who thus have the opportunity to spend one year in France and develop their knowledge of French language and culture, while experiencing teaching in an environment different from the one they have generally known so far, or who want to improve their French-teaching skills. The aim is also to encourage French students’ knowledge of English or American culture through a genuine contact with a native speaker. In this position, Mr Ward gave us entire satisfaction as he always thoroughly prepared his classes, and was always listening to the teachers’ and students’ demands, while at the same time maintaining an important and necessary autonomy and independence. Mr Ward turned out to have an excellent contact with the students, and with all the staff members. He brought a real benefit to our school during the period of his work with us, thanks to a thoughtful and constant dedication to his work.
