WHAT’S INCLUDED: Hard and soft G learning rhyme poster Hard G little book (color and black and white) Soft G little book (color and black and white) Hard and soft G little book (color and black and white) Book assembly instructions (sorry, the T book is not included here) PREPARATION: Print off the pages you’d like to use, then cut and fold the little books by following the instruction page. Laminate the poster if you’d like. HOW TO USE: Read a children’s book together that contains soft and hard G’s and discuss the two sounds. Teach the rhyme and look through some favorite books together to see if the rhyme is true, and how often it is not. Make sure to point out that there are some common exceptions so while this rhyme is helpful it’s important not to rely on it completely. Read through the 3 little books at your own pace, asking children to check each book closely to see if each word follows the rules of the rhyme. It would be good to use 2 different colored highlighters to clearly mark the soft and loud g’s in the mixed book. I hope your children enjoy using these little books.
