Dear Sir or Madam,

I am writing to you to express my interest in your current job vacancy as a Lighting Technician at Arley Hall and I believe I am fit for the role.

Firstly, I am experienced in operating lighting equipment as I have operated lights for both school and college shows. For example, during “Priestley’s Got Talent” I operated the lights and also during “Lysander’s Christmas Extravaganza”. This is a very important attribute as a responsibility of a Lighting Technician. The lighting desks used at school and college was the zero 88 jester. My workshops at LIPA and the Everyman Theatre in Liverpool have further educated me in lighting. At these workshops I have used modern lighting equipment such as Source 4 lights and the zero 88 orb XF lighting desk. Furthermore, I am experienced in CAD. Computer aided design helps with role with making lighting plans of spaces. My knowledge of CAD is very useful when rigging. I can read colour calls, cue sheets and 2D lighting plans which I can use to rig lights in a theatre rig.

Also, I have a good understanding of rigging lights as I have a full understanding of the lights themselves and how to rig them as I am fully trained on a tallescope. This is supported by completing my Lighting Operations unit. Also I can maintain a light. For example, changing bulbs on numerous lighting models. This is backed up by me completing my Stage maintenance unit.

Furthermore, I am enthusiastic about the Production Arts industry as I am currently studying production arts at Priestley College. I am also calm under pressure as I have taken part in many roles in shows such as a Stage Hand to Lighting operator. This also shows that I have a full understanding of the industry.

Finally, I am flexible in my role. For example I have knowledge on sound equipment’s such as speakers and sound desks. Also I have knowledge on electrics. For example I know how to change a plug and how to tie up cables. I also have worked in Front Of House and in events management. For example, making programs for the school show, “UAW’s summer showcase”.

I hope you take my application into consideration and hope to hear from you soon regarding my application.

Yours sincerely
