LETTER FROM THE NOMINEE By the time I accepted my first professional position in architecture, my seven older siblings included a doctor, a civil and structural engineer, a veterinarian, a registered nurse, a graphic designer and a teacher. Vince Lombardi once said “The quality of a person's life is in direct proportion to their commitment to excellence, regardless of their chosen field of endeavor.” In a passionate, successful family of ten, excellence is a way of being, and my own personal commitment to excellence has given me the opportunity to distinguish myself in my chosen field of endeavor. While genes define my aptitude in math and science, my ancestry, comprised of poets, painters, and artisans, defines my artistic nature. This rare combination is powerful, resulting in work and service that consistently strive for standards of distinction. Thus, I give credit to my beginnings, a culture of excellence and commitment, as well as abundant encouragement, for instilling in me the characteristics that guarantee success in my future. Thomas Moore described: “Finding the right work is like discovering your own soul in the world.” In this spirit, I have systematically spent my infancy in the architecture profession participating in a diverse array of projects, practical experiences, and extracurricular activities, not only to build a broad and solid foundational skill set, but also to freely explore a myriad of paths my career might take. I predicted from the beginning that architecture was the perfect vehicle for combining both my passion for art and my aptitude for math and science. What I did not anticipate is how my experiences outside of essential employment expectations would shape my desired path within the broader field of architecture. As an undergraduate, I participated in a study abroad trip to Austria and Malta with a focus on global sustainability. As students, we were immersed in a conference-learning environment filled with practicing professionals from overseas. This experience exposed me to the value of pursuing opportunities outside of traditional settings, and fostered a greater understanding of how extracurricular activities can be transformational. In this spirit, in addition to the demands of my current employment, I choose to pursue mentorship opportunities at the Savannah College of Art and Design. These opportunities not only allow me to advise young architectural minds on the cusp of professionalism, but also keep me in the fertile ground of new ideas. Mentorship is truly a mutually beneficial activity, allowing me to distinguish myself among my peers by seeking unique and innovative experiences while providing valuable guidance to a new generation of professionals. This exposure has allowed me to realize the worth mentoring can provide not only to colleagues and peers, but also to clients through the application in the workplace of practical knowledge obtained through these experiences. In 2016, I began service as President of the Savannah chapter of Young Architects Forum with the sole purpose of reigniting an organization whose professional value was not being seen locally due to lack of participation. In doing so, I realized quickly my capabilities as a leader and have found immediate success in recharging what was previously a dwindling organization in our community. These “extracurricular” experiences within the broader field of architecture have transformed a college student who picked a major that best fit her basic skill set into a young professional who has determinedly and uniquely discovered “her own soul in the world.” I have developed a clear vision of precisely how I will find success in uniting architectural professionals through organizations in the future, and am certain the next major step in this journey is the pursuit of the role of the South Atlantic Region Associate Regional Director. Throughout the course of my career path, from higher education until now, I have had many professors and mentors tell me that I am among ‘the best’ at what I am doing. Most days, I find this a very daunting label to live up to. Despite this, their words challenge me every day to exemplify the commitment to excellence instilled in me as a child. If elected as South Atlantic Region Associate Regional Director, I will serve the American Institute of Architects with a tenacity and strength of purpose you will not forget. I will not disappoint you. I have read and understand this election and election runoff procedures and will abide by this process. Thank you for your time and consideration. Sincerely, Jodie Quinter ASSOC. AIA

LET TER FROM THE NOMINEE

By the time I accepted my rst professional position in architecture, my seven older siblings included a doctor, a civil and structural engineer, a veterinarian, a registered nurse, a graphic designer and a teacher. Vince Lombardi once said “The quality of a person's life is in direct proportion to their commitment to excellence, regardless of their chosen eld of endeavor.” In a passionate, successful family of ten, excellence is a way of being, and my own personal commitment to excellence has given me the opportunity to distinguish myself in my chosen eld of endeavor. November 1, 2016 David Southerland, Executive Director AIA Georgia 100 Edgewood Avenue, Suite 190 Atlanta, GA 30303 RE: Letter of Support for Jodie Quinter, Associate AIA South Atlantic Region – Regional Associate Director Dear David: I’d like to offer this letter as support for the nomination of Jodie Quinter, Associate AIA for the position of South Atlantic Region – Regional Associate Director. Jodie has worked with our firm for over 2 years. In that time she has proven herself as a leader in the firm and in the profession. She has taken the initiative to restart AIA Savannah’s Young Architects Forum (YAF) and has started a bi-weekly industry networking event called Punch List. Punch List is an informal gathering time to allow people, especially younger professionals, in the AEC industry to exchange ideas and network. It continues to grow and assist young professionals in making valuable connections and promote the role of architects. LS3P is committed to the ongoing success of AIA and is committed to allow Jodie the time and resources to serve, if elected. I wholeheartedly support her nomination as our SAR Regional Associate Director from Georgia. Please feel free to contact me if you have any questions. Sincerely, Neil Dawson, AIA, LEED AP Principal |Studio Leader LS3P Associates
