You will work with your project team to do research,
plan and create a travel brochure.
• Each students in the team will how to work
collaboratively.
• Designate fluid roles for group members.
• You will discuss roles and students will choose their
primary roles, but assume responsibility and
interactivity for all group roles.
• Reminder: Every part of the process belongs to
each individual and needs each student's total
involvement.

Direct students to the Alabama Virtual Library to begin their research.
Help students employ Google or other search engines. Always monitor
all searches for information. Show children how to save the URL of the
sources they use. Instruct their citing of sources.

Students will:
Know that Alabama has a colorful and rich cultural history with
evidence from a wide variety of cultures and ethnicities as well
as a diverse landscape and geographical features. Alabama has
many points of interest that make Alabama unique and a place
that a lot of people want to visit.
At the end of the unit know that AL has 5 regions, AL‘s location,
Landforms of AL, natural resources of AL, and points of interest
in AL.
To help learn this entire curriculum the students will become
travel agents and create a travel brochure highlighting points of
interest, landforms, state's flower, flag, tree, bird, etc. that
would persuade someone to take a trip to Alabama.
In the research process the students will learn about cultural
history and events, which will be taught in another unit.
4. Relate the relationship of the five geographic regions of Alabama to the
movement of Alabama settlers during the early nineteenth century.
· Identifying natural resources of Alabama during the early nineteenth century
· Describing human environments of Alabama as they relate to settlement
during the early nineteenth century, including housing, roads, and place
names
8. Identify geographic links of land regions, river systems, and interstate
highways between Alabama and other states. (Alabama)

the lesson:
Internet access, laptops, color printers, computers for
research and publishing, Microsoft Publisher or other
software designed for desktop publishing, flash drives
for saving student work. Students may find graphics
for their brochures in Microsoft Publisher, clip art,
software such as Print Shop and the Internet, etc.

search techniques. Review inserting graphics and downloading appropriate pictures.

Project Based Learning project will be done by
groups of students working together toward a
common goal.

Storyboard Stage
During this stage, as my students in each
group worked on preliminary sketches and
storyboards (graphic organizers), until they
decided on a final design; I will serve as
coach, moving from group to group to guide
the students' work.

• Does each student have ownership of her role within the group?
• Are the students attentive and working together cooperatively?
• Are the resources that students use geared to their comprehensive level
of understanding?
• Are any groups stumbling in a way that is blocking their work due to
