THINGS THAT MOMS DIDN’T KNOW

ABOUT BEING A MOM

UNTIL THEY

BECAME ONE

We asked 10 moms what they didn't know

about being a mom until they became one.

From developing a new appreciation for

coffee to re-discovering everyday gifts

often overlooked, here are some of their

responses …

LESSONS FROM THE NURSERY

I realized that moms are teachers,

diplomats, peacemakers, conflict

resolution specialists, counselors,

personal chefs, playmates, nurses,

and magicians.

– Sallie WalshOrlando, Fla.

I never knew a love like the one I feel for

my daughter every day could grow

stronger with each passing minute.

Before you have a child, you do not know

a love like this ... it's simply incredible.

– Timory BurlesonWoodinville, Wash.

Until I became a mother, I did not realize why

so many mothers I encountered looked so

frazzled until I started to also have to keep

constant tabs on my own child!

– Jolene SavkicOrlando, Fla.

”“

I did not fully realize the amount of work

and sacrifice that goes into being a mom.

Eight months in, I can say this is the most

amazing time of my life. Every day with her

is a gift.

– Renee HannaPompano Beach, Fla.

Until I was a mother, I didn't know

that I could actually survive on four

hours of sleep. Caffeine helps! We

surprisingly adapt and function

better than I expected.

– Nicole AndersonEl Paso, Texas

Those long endless days of

nursing and snuggling go by

faster than I'd thought possible.

– Kate LewisVirginia Beach, Va.

”“

Breastfeeding, lack of sleep, learning their

cries, figuring out their wants was

overwhelming (to say the least), but I

soon realized the strength and bravery I

had inside of me as a new mom.

– Ashley HinsonSt. Cloud, Fla.

It's trial and error and no one is the

perfect parent. So you need to remind

yourself that it's OK to make mistakes

as long as you learn from it, and you

know you're raising your child/children

to be the best person they can be.

– Jennifer BubonMillbury, Mass.

There are so many things I had

forgotten to notice or appreciate

until I had a child to teach me to

look at them again.

– Jennifer BoehmCoeur d'Alene, Idaho

Kids don't remember the things we

buy them when they are older;

instead it is the moments we spend

with them that are irreplaceable.

– Alisha EvansOviedo, Fla.
