Hamirpur (HP)Grade Level / Subject Area: 2ndTime allotted for lesson : one hourShort Description of LessonThe lesson is directly concerned with the name of animals. As per the requirement of thelanguage, the concept of articles is to be introduced informally.Hence,An elephant, A wolfetc. is to be practiced, but not with set rules.Main theme is the introduction of names ofsome animals,their shapes and sounds. The written competency level will be limited towrite the names of mentioned animals.Classroom layout and grouping of studentsStudents will sit in crescendental position in the centre of the classroom .The specialchildren will be recognized in 1st row sittingState Curriculum StandardsThe books prepared by HP Board of school education has given a venture to improve theEnglish language of the students. As the effort to teach English from 1st class has beeninitiated, I hope for its best results . To improve bilingual skills of the students, a special CDpack has been introduced by me for this level where animals names will appear both inHindi and English language with their sounds.Hence, recognition of animals is thestandardized work in the textbook from class 1st to 2nd.

Material: Flash cards, Laptop, CD, Chart, blalckboard, duster.Materials, resources and technology details

The lesson will be presented through demonstration method.Previous Knowledge:Students are aware of the existence of animals in the surrounding environment.They knowthe names of some animals too which they have studued in class 1 st.Hence, they areaware about their names due to the animals seen in the surrounding areas, in TVprogrammes,in toys and on photos.Previous Knowledge Test:Teacher will ask the students following questions to test the previous knowledge of thestudents

(1)Children, can you tell me the name of some animals read by you in class 1st?(2)Do you know the sounds of some animals? If yes, then present them.(3)Do you know the name of some water animals too ?Announcement of the topic:

Now the teacher will introduce the lesson with use of flash cards and CD demonstrationon the laptop screen.The sounds of animals will be followed by name of animals bothin English and Hindi language.Hence, teacher will use both hindi and English languagein conversation with the students.

As the flash cards will be shown, students will be asked to recognize the name of theanimals shown on flash cards.Then , they will be asked to associate the knowledge withthe video seen recently on the laptop. Now, teacher will write the names of these animalson blackboard after questioning from the students.
