Then, I will pick one of them and ask the students “what is this?” and listen to their answers. Next to that, I will ask them “and what is on the desk?” and expect their feedback. Later on, I will ask them “why are the answers for both questions different?” and pay close attention to what they say. Lesson Plan Communicative Competence III (Intermediate)Title: Singular and plural nounsDeveloper: Jaime Bautista HenaoGrade level: 6th

Step 1: Outline learning objectives.

As a result of this lesson, the students will have to: Explain the difference between the singular and the plural form of some nouns. Pluralize singular nouns by following the six rules and the lists of exceptions. Visually and audibly recognize singular and plural nouns. Give their own example of a singular noun made plural.

Step 2: Develop the introduction.

For the beginning of the class, and as a way of checking previous knowledge from the students, I will bring some items of the same kind to the classroom and I will put them all on a desk. Then, I will pick one of them and ask the students what is this? and listen to their answers. Next to that, I will ask them and what is on the desk? and expect their feedback.

Later on, I will ask them why are the answers for both questions different? and pay close attention to what they say. If they have any difficulty explaining that, I will guide them to give the correct explanation. After that, I will ask them: what is the letter at the end of the second answer that made it refer to more than one item?. Finally, I will explain them rules 1 and 2, which are included on the website, along with some exercises.

Steps 3 and 4: Plan the specific learning activities and check for understanding.

Writing-speaking activity: For explaining rules from 1 to 6 there will be some slides with examples and exercises for each of them. I will call student by student to pluralize the nouns that are included in the slides and ask the other ones to check the answers.

Listening-reading activity: I will play a video with the text and the audio of the poem The River's Tale by Rudyard Kipling. Students will have to write down the plural nouns they hear or read from the video and, then, I will ask them to tell me those nouns they have collected. I will write them down on the board and ask them to tell me their singular form, according to the rules and the lists of exceptions weve studied previously.

Step 5: Develop a conclusion and a preview.

To sum up this topic, I will ask the students to mention the rules and some of the exceptions they remember, helping them to complete the missing ones and to correct the wrong ones. After that, I will make a brief preview of the topic related to the demonstrative adjectives that are used to indicate singular and plural items in relation to ourselves.

Step 6: Create a realistic timeline.

Introduction: 3 minutes (0:00 3:00) Writing-speaking activity: 6 minutes (3:00 9:00) Listening-reading activity: 6 minutes (9:00 15:00) Conclusion and preview: 3 minutes (15:00 18:00) Feedback: 2 minutes (18:00 20:00)

Presenting the lesson plan:

All the contents of this lesson plan will be included on the website, which is going to support the class.

Reflecting on your lesson plan:

I will take into account the feedback I get from the students during the last part of the lesson and, later on, from the teacher when we discuss our teaching performance.
