  3. 3. Destination: Inspiration This project covers BTEC Module 1: UndertakeWork Related Experience in the Land BasedIndustries. This module aims to provide learners with anunderstanding of the principles of work relatedexperience and how these can be applied inpractice. Work experience can include working in theindustry, working at the college and listening toguest speakers.
  4. 4. Lesson Aims: The aim of this session is to introduce you tothis module and answer any questions youmay have. By the end of this session, you will be able to: State the learning aims for this module Explain the importance of work experience Identify different areas of the animal industry thatyou could work in as part of this course
  5. 5. Module OutcomesThere are four outcomes to this module:1. Know the range and scope of job roles within anenvironmental and land-based industry2. Be able to use relevant documents and skillsrelating to work experience3. Be able to plan and review self-developmentduring work experience4. Be able to report on the work experience

  7. 7. Outcome 2: Be able to use relevant documents andskills relating to work experience We will be creatingand using variousdocuments relevantto work experience: Job advertisement; CV & covering letter; Application form; Job description; Skills identification
  8. 8. Outcome 3: Be able to plan and review self-developmentduring work experience In this outcome, youwill be analysing yourown skills and planningfor your owndevelopment: SWOT Analysis Skills Audit Self Development Plan Self Review
  9. 9. Outcome 4: Be able to report on the work experience In this outcome, youwill produce a reporton your own workexperience that youwill present back tothe class.
  10. 10. Assessment In this project, there are 11 pass, 3 merit and2 distinction criteria. Two of the assessments will be based on yourskills and your experience. The grade you achieve is not based on thework experience you have done (although youdo have to have the minimum number ofhours).
  11. 11. Assessment 1 The Animal Industry This assessment covers P1, P2, M1, M2, D1,D2 and will help you to learn about thedifferent jobs available to you when you havefinished your education. This assessment will test your knowledge ofjob advertising, person specifications andanalysing applications.
  12. 12. Assessment 2 Applying for a Job This assessment covers P3, P4, P5, P6, M2 &D2 In this assessment, you will complete anapplication form, create a CV & cover letterand prepare for an interview. You will then take part in an interview for ajob.
  13. 13. Assessment 3 Self Development Plan This assessment covers P7 & P8. This assessment is all about developingyourself. You will carry out a SWOT analysis and thencreate an action plan based on the areas youhave identified for development. You will then review these targets against yourwork experience.
  14. 14. Assessment 4 My Work Placement This assessment covers P9, P10 & P11. To achieve these criteria, you will produce apresentation on the work placement(s) thatyou have completed this year. This presentation will then be presented tothe rest of the group.
  15. 15. Online Learning This module will be delivered entirely onlinewith no face to face teaching. Each week, you will watch a short lessonwhich include quiz question and shortactivities which will help you with yourassessment. Each week, I will monitor your participation inthese tasks and give feedback.
  16. 16. AssessmentFormative Gives you feedback onhow you areprogressing. Prepares you for yourassessment.Summative The work you submitfor your final grade.It is important that you complete all formativeand summative assessments throughout thisand all other modules.
  17. 17. The Land Based Industry What do we mean by Land Based Industry? Any jobs which involve the natural world. What sectors can you think of within the LandBased Industry?

The Land Based Industry Production (livestock,crops), Leisure/tourism, Equestrian, Forestry/arboriculture, Fishery management, Aquaculture, Farriery, Floristry, Fencing, Game keeping, Animal care/welfare, Conservation, Countrysidemanagement, Land-basedengineering, Landscaping andhorticulture
  19. 19. This Weeks Task... I would like you to spend a few minutes looking intoplacements that you could do whilst you are studyingAnimal Care. On 3D Learning, you will find a link to a Padlet that Ihave set up. Once you have done your research, add a note on thePadlet sharing what you have found. I have added a note to get you started. If you have researched a placement and someone hasalready added it to the Padlet, look up another. Iwould like as many different placements as possible! Make sure you add your name to your note so that Ican give you feedback.
